Bag of Tricks Vol. 70: Turn off High Detail Objects in Chult

Bog of Tricks Logo

Welcome to the latest installment of our Bag of Tricks! On some days you will find useful tricks, gimmicks and ideas here that can make life in Neverwinter Online easier. Some of the stuff should be well known, but since even veterans learn something new every now and then, chance is you can, too.

Have you ever considered running games with less than the maximum possible graphical settings? Probably not, because it goes against what you would naturally do. Yet, it might be exactly what you want in Chult to gain a massive gameplay enhancement.

Until October 22nd Neverwinter Uncensored will be hosting a social giveaway for a chance to win one of five Wizkids Promo Codes. Neverwinter and Wizkids have teamed up and included special promo codes in their exciting new figurine line, D&D Icons of the Realms: Tomb of Annihilation. If you’re not feeling like buying into the figurines, here’s your chance to get a code anyway!

Turn off High Detail Objects

The setting we’re talking about here is called “High Detail Objects”. It toggles a lot of small objects that can be a pain to older machines. The game however also looks significantly worse without it since it’s missing half of the environment. In Chult though, missing all of those little bushes and flowers is actually great. The visual range drastically increases and hunting for trophies you suddenly start seeing mobs from miles away. So turning off the setting can be an enhancement, as the pictures below show.

If you’re on consoles you’re unfortunately out of luck. Without the ability to tweak the settings, folks on the Xbox and PS4 still have to crawl through the jungle unfiltered.
