Bag of Tricks Vol. 84: Using Adjustcamyaw Console Command to Deal with Cradle Pull/Push

Welcome to the latest installment of our Bag of Tricks! On some days you will find useful tricks, gimmicks and ideas here that can make life in Neverwinter Online easier. Some of the stuff should be well known, but since even veterans learn something new every now and then, chance is you can, too.

This week, we already gave you all essential information you need to beat the latest capstone content in Neverwinter’s Module 13, the Cradle of the Death Gods. We do however want to add a little console trick to the list that might help you depending on how you usually deal with the annoying pull/push mechanic.

Some players move against the pull, then do a 180 to get enough distance between them and the edge of the platform and not get blown off by the push. Of course you can just blindly run backwards as well, but then you risk going too far and fall off yourself, which is one of the more embarrassing deaths that can occur.

In case you’re one of the guys that prefer the 180 approach, there’s a console command that can help you a ton. The “adjustcamyaw X” changes the view of the camera by X degrees (positive numbers for right, negative ones for left). So /adjustcamyaw 180 or /adjustcamyaw -180 points the camera to the opposite side of your character. If you fire the command while walking, the character instantly starts moving into that direction as well.

What you can do is bind adjustcamyaw 180 to a key and do the following sequence:

  1. Pull starts
  2. Walk against the pull
  3. Count to 4
  4. Hit your hotkey and keep walking
  5. Survive the push

You still have to nail the timing to trigger adjustcamyaw at the right point, but ideally you should be able to just press “w” (or whatever key you use for going forward) and trigger adjustcamyaw once. For some this could make it easier to do the 180 and deal with the pull/push.
