Bag of Tricks Vol. 87: Module 13 Campaign Idol Caps

Bog of Tricks Logo

Welcome to the latest installment of our Bag of Tricks! On some days you will find useful tricks, gimmicks and ideas here that can make life in Neverwinter Online easier. Some of the stuff should be well known, but since even veterans learn something new every now and then, chance is you can, too.

The weekly campaign progression in the Jungles of Chult campaign of Module 12 and 13 features one pretty interesting aspect. The “hard cap” of Forgotten Totems and Lost Idols isn’t actually that fixed. It’s kinda like doing your taxes. Yes, from the outside it seems you have to pay a fixed percentage of your income, but then there’s like a gazillion exceptions and tricks that make you get your money back. The Weekly Haul of Module 13 sometimes feels the same. There are actually not less than four different caps that you can add up to earn more than what the Weekly Haul indicates. Let’s list them:

  • Weekly Haul: This is you main cap that is shown in the campaign window and can be extended by unlocking tasks in the “advancement path”. All dailies, weeklies, and the shrine empowerment buff count towards this cap.
  • Chultan Tiger: The Idols earned from the Chultan Tiger’s Active Bonus have their own cap of 25 per week.
  • Hunts: Hunts, just like in Module 12, can earn you up to 25 bonus Idols per week. This is stated in the Hunt task’s description.
  • Treasure Maps: Idols earned from Treasure Maps also have their own cap. We’re not sure how much it is, but since you can only farm six per week you probably won’t reach it anyway.

Added up this means that you can earn up to 50+ more Idols than your “Weekly Haul” indicates. This is something that is not well documented in the game and you probably need to keep track of the different caps yourself to maximize the possible progression.

    Hello everyone,

judging from my experience the treasure maps and the hunts are going to the same 25 idol cap (at least in the first few weeks they did). I had decided, that the cost/benefit of the tiger for my two main toons against the legendary con artist i had on both was to little to buy it, so no idols from him. At the start of module 13, i was very eager to get into the cradle and fane (rings), so i wantet to get max idols. So i bought a lot of lures to do 25 hunts on both of my toons. I did the maps as soon as i got them (4 or 5 idols from 6 maps for both toons) and then went hunting. After the first chars 25 hunts, i noticed that he only got the 20 idols missing to the 25 including the maps. With the second toon i did hunts until he reached the cap and then checked before and after the next hunt. No idol.

In the second week, i waitet with opening the treasure chests after i had done 25 hunts and got exactly zero idols from the 12 maps i had on both toons combined.

After this, i never bothered to reach the hunting cap again, so i can not comment on this thing after week two in omu.

Yeah, I’m confused about this as well. If I hit my weekly cap on normal quests and then open treasures, is it really going to award over the cap?
And, the Chultan tiger… if I don’t equip it, hit my cap, then equip it and do stuff… is it going to give me another 25 over the cap?

For your first question: Yes it should. You might even get the “reached the cap” error, but the Idols are getting added nonetheless. Can’t answer the second question unfortunately.

Hey if you end up reading this I was wondering if the stronghold siege bonus 25 went over the cap or if it didn’t.I think it does but my friend doesn’t, so you know I really want to know. Also after about 30 mins of searching the internet I cant find anything on it
