Welcome to the latest installment of our Bag of Tricks! On some days you will find useful tricks, gimmicks and ideas here that can make life in Neverwinter Online easier. Some of the stuff should be well known, but since even veterans learn something new every now and then, chance is you can, too.
Inviting players from inside solo lairs is already a pretty common approach by many, but since it can greatly ease your daily routine, we like to include it in this format anyway.
You might have run into players in the zone or lfg chat that announce entering a specific solo lair and want tells so they can add more players from the inside. These requests normally look like this: “Entering Dread Spire, send tell for invite.”
The underlying issue is easy. Assembling groups for daily or weekly lairs has an annoying component, because all party members have to be in the same instance to enter the dungeon together. So you need to lfg for your group first and then wait for all members to switch instances before you can start your journey. It can take a while, especially since players regularly accept invites even if they can’t switch yet because of the two minute cooldown, either because they don’t care or didn’t notice.
That’s why players use a workaround, enter the lair alone and invite more players once inside. If one player is already in the lair, others can join from their respective instances without the need to group up. This even completely negates the need to respect allegiances in Icewind Dale as you can invite anybody inside Biggrin’s Tomb. In most cases it speeds up the process for everyone. The party leader gets companions without the need to wait in front of the lair and all invitees join an instance that has already been started and partially completed. Normally the advantage is a bit higher for those getting invited, but if you invite today, you might get invited tomorrow.
The only risk for the leaders is that they might not get any requests, which could be annoying if you’re actually low on DPS or even reliant on help (Well of Dragon lairs can be tricky for new players). In that case it might still be better to assemble your group in advance or at least get one or two others and invite the rest from the inside.
