Sea of Moving Ice Fishing Guide

During the first days of Sea of Moving Ice fishing has developed into the main task for most adventurers. It’s part of the grind system, but can also be very profitable. We show you how you can make the most out of your time in the Khyek!

Where’s the good stuff coming from?

Fishing provides important Reagents to restore the new Relic Artifact Weapons and some special type of RP for them. These are obtained by catching specific Tier IV fish or can be found within Treasures. The most important thing is that you only fish at the fishing hole locations. On the left you can see a very nice overview where to find them. The original is from @archangelzorak01, but it has been slightly extended. The spots are surrounded by a glowing blue circle on the water and easy to spot. The locations are also important for all you collection hunters, because certain fish only drops at specific ones.

Cancel the reel

If you really only want to farm the mats from fishing all you want is Tier IV fish and the Maps in a Bottle. You can speed up the process a little bit, because the action bar shows what type of bite you got. If it shows a roman IV or no roman number at all, you set the hook. Otherwise you move slightly and fishing will be canceled. This way you won’t have to waste time reeling in stuff you don’t want. Of course you can always catch all fish regardless and work towards the Elk Tribe Support. Using this method you burn through your bait pretty fast, so make sure you always have enough with you.

Tier IV fish include the ones that can be gutted for special resources. Check your collection or the above picture and make sure your location has the Ventdiver, Runechanged Nautiloid, Icebound Whelk or Myrmidon available. A Tier 0 fish is always the Map in a Bottle.

Treasure Hunt

It’s recommended that you fish a location until it disappears. You can stack the bottles and then go treasure hunt in bulk. Several players created maps with all locations and they proved to be pretty accurate. Some of the spots are tricky to get to though. Most of the time you just have to climb up somewhere, but #16 for example needs an accurate jump from the top onto a plateau. Some maps show the spot of the treasure, others show a view from the spot of the treasure. Don’t however get discouraged, it’s relatively easy.

All treasures drop Relics and a selection of either RP, Fish or Reagents. This can include resources that normally only drop from Heroic Encounters and also the Enchanted Fishing Pole. The special boat location lands the Dragonbone Khyek.

$$$

Currently fishing is very profitable. In case you’re looking for AD it’s probably best to sell the Maps outright. People are still hunting for the purple boat and pole slightly overpay. You however get an insane amount of bound RP for the new Relic Artifact Weapons from treasures, which should land you enough for a Legendary rank in no time.

No matter what ways of turning Fishing into profit you prefer, you can’t do much wrong with sitting in your Khyek these days!

The treasure maps drop Krill as well. It does not say it does, but after following maps and unburying treasures I have over 100 krill. You want to fish with Krill if you can. The bait is better. You choose your bait by pressing the TAB button.

        What are the coordinates?

I can NEVER find Ocean Trench as an active fishing hole. Has anyone found it and fished from it? I cannot verify the map’s location.

Hello, what do you mean with ‘enchanted fishing pole and special boat location’?
Do you mean that from these treasure maps you can get a purple fishing rod and purple khyek?
    Kind regards

Take the fish back to the main island in Sea of moving Ice. Follow the ramp up to the vendor on the upper level. He will buy all you fish and give you Elk Tribe Points which you use in the SVA trial to open chests . Those chests provide the Marks required to upgrade your weapons. Be careful not to sell the blue ones that you can gut for things required in upgrading! Read about those blue fish first! If you do not need what those materials that the special fish produce, open and sell what they provide in AH! Great way to make AD!

Great page, tremendous help. I got treasure map 1. eventually found the right spot in the sea, but nothing shiny/sparkling of clickable. I have carefully checked and I am in the right place the overhead rocks and features match up exactly. I must be missing something, not helped because its a super fishing circle as well.

From what you describing it could be number 23. This is actually one of the maps that shows the location of the treasure and not the view from the location. You have to climb the rock.

thanks absolutely right in that the spot and map was pointing to the location rather than giving the view from where the box was.

There seams to be a clockwise rotation of the fishing holes associated within the t4 group of fish your looking for. Example: ventdiver spots where only vent diver are found or spots where myrmidon are caught. I’ve only seemed to run into the locations in a clockwise rotation regardless of the instance or character. So start at one and work your way around the spots on this map to locate one. Works for me.

Not sure if you’ve confirmed it yet but #17 Thermal Vent does spawn Ventdiver fish. Figured I’d let you know if you didn’t already.

Haha thanks a lot for taking the time to even make the screenshot. I shortly YouTubed it and find the way to reach that point. Apparently i had to be off my mount at the top since the mount won’t be able to get there 😀

I had a lot of trouble trying to work out what buttons to press, to fish in Neverwinter, using a ps4, and I couldn’t find any help on line, so here`s a brief guide to fishing in the moving ice fields. 1. You need a boat, hooks and bait. 2. Sail the boat to the fishing area marked by a large blue circle on the mini-map. Must be idle and not moving to fish. 3. Bait hook by pressing R1. 4. Cast line by pressing R2. 5. Set hook by pressing L2. 6.Reel in by holding Square, Triangle or circle buttons as directed by on screen hud. 7. When power bar full, land the fish by pressing up on the cross pad. I hope thinks works for you.

My map says “you already have all the items in this package”. I have never used a map in a bottle tho. What’s that mean?

The only reason could be that you already have a map in your inventory. You can only ever hold one of them. They work differently from Mod 12/13 ones that you can stack.
