Bag of Tricks Vol. 67: Medallions of Battle Rain in Call-to-Arms Solo Queue

Bog of Tricks Logo

Welcome to the latest installment of our Bag of Tricks! On some days you will find useful tricks, gimmicks and ideas here that can make life in Neverwinter Online easier. Some of the stuff should be well known, but since even veterans learn something new every now and then, chance is you can, too.

Last week when Call-to-Arms made the return to the PC version of the game, players uncovered an interesting interaction between the Medallions and the possibility of queueing into content solo. Since the “Tomb of Annihilation” update private queues do no longer enforce group sizes. That means you can queue into any content with less than the recommended players. Although it might not seem to make sense, it was a welcomed change for those thriving in solo challenges and such.

Call-to-Arms Suddenly Viable?

In Call-to-Arms you obviously don’t even lose time on an endgame character compared to doing it with a full group. The map can conveniently be done alone as mobs are one-rotated or even one-shotted. And as it turns out, you don’t have to share Medallions with your group that way. In “Gate Crashers” for example mobs apparently drop around 150 Medallions that are normally shared among all participants. If you’re queueing solo, all the loot belongs to one character of course, making this a very viable method of farming the skirmish.

It Might Stick For a While

We know this one is a little weird to report a week after Call-to-Arms has passed on the PC. But as nice little consequence of the solo queue option, we believe this might stick for a while and players likely will be able to utilize it in upcoming CtAs as well. Remember that “Gate Crashers” is one of the worst skirmishes in terms of length, so others can even net more per time spent.

That being said, the rewards the event hands out are still not great. But going for transmutes and Refiner’s Caches has suddenly gotten that much easier.
