Bag of Tricks Vol. 81: Farm and Keep Overflow Rewards

Bog of Tricks Logo

Welcome to the latest installment of our Bag of Tricks! On some days you will find useful tricks, gimmicks and ideas here that can make life in Neverwinter Online easier. Some of the stuff should be well known, but since even veterans learn something new every now and then, chance is you can, too.

Today’s “Bag of Tricks” is not so much a gameplay hint as a major PSA. As we’ve already talked about in our preview, the tweak to the experience curves in Neverwinter’s Module 13 had the nice side effect of making Overflow Rewards much more obtainable. They come with every 100,000 XP now and while doing your daily stuff you sometimes earn up to three. It’s as fast that players are actually suggesting nerfing the rate again. We certainly hope that this won’t happen, but it’s true that not all sources of XP have been adjusted to the change. The Leadership Profession is one example.

The easiest way of farming Overflow Rewards is probably just doing level 70 dailies. Most grant roughly 9,000 XP per, and you need 12 for a reward without counting any XP you’ll gain from mobs. There are some notable exceptions though. The Demon Hunter quests in Icewind Dale and Dread Ring net ~26,000 for example. There might be more outliers like this, so make sure to look around.

Even if you’re not specifically going for XP, the Overflow Rewards will come steadily. At this rate it absolutely make sense to stash them away and don’t touch them until a Double Enchantment, or even Double Astral Diamond, rolls around. In any case, have fun with overflow XP, which is more rewarding than ever since the Lost City of Omu!

We’ve attached some data on the drop rates below as well. Please note that other refining stones are dropping since the refining system overhaul, but the drop chances are still valid.

    One of my characters got 6 level ups in less than 2 days of Dailies and a few weeklies, just in IWD and WoD, as they were doing the locals plus Demon Hunter quests to complete their Boons for IWD, WoD and Underdark.

    I stared playing another and they got three level ups.

    All my other characters have got at least 2 level ups just from Invoking.

    I’ve been writing the results down in an A4 lab book since they changed the Invoking system, but I am very unlikely now to enter it all into a database to analyse it fully.

    On 22 level 70 characters:
    2018, Jan 01-31, I got 41 level ups, 12 Power Points and 8x 30k AD
    2018, Feb 01-28, I got 49 level ups, 21 Power Points and 8x 30k AD
    2018, Mar 01-03, I got 40 level ups, 15 Power Points and 7x 30k AD – in three days!

    Of course, I actually got 45k AD every time due to 100k Invoking Bonus; which is dwindling rapidly.

    Jackpot Bank Shot of 30k AD AND a Power Point on a single character:
    Jan = two
    Feb = four
    Mar = four – in three days!

    And I have only Invoked 4 times so far today (March 3rd).

    This cannot last.

    Nerfs Incoming!

    It used to be a buzz to grab my book and write down the level up rewards. Now, it’s becoming a bit of a PITA!

    ROFLMAO!

    😀

    Killing bears in the stronghold map is actually the best XP/hour.
