Many-Starred Lockbox Preview

After bringing you a general post about the storyline in Neverwinter’s Module 11: The Cloacked Ascendancy on Tuesday, we want to turn our attention to the new lockbox that is going to get introduced with the update on Feb 21st. The lockbox itself is not yet unlocked on the preview, but its rare packs are available through the Resurgence Lockbox. As you might now Resurgence is getting an update every module lately. The legendary and epic packs will now contain all items up to Module 9: Maze Engine and the rare packs of the Many-Starred Lockbox were added. So we copied over some Resurgence Lockboxes and opened them to get a peek at some of the brand-new stuff. Before we start however, here is some info on older lockboxes. The Tarmalune Trade Bar Merchant will receive an update and both the Manticore Companion as well as the Eye of the Giant Artifact will be available at green rarity. Pics and Percentages! First let’s quickly talk some drop chances here. Out of 1,500 boxes, we got six rares ones. That’s slightly under the 0.5% drop rate, but not an unusual deviation in such a small sample. The Enchantment and Artifact Equipment drop slightly more often

New Module 11 Items Include Companion Gear and Artifact Weapons

Since last Friday we know why the key change was rushed from preview to live within a week: Neverwinter Module 11 was already waiting and got its first release uploaded on the PTS. We will dig deeper into the new features and campaign in the upcoming weeks, but want to start with some infos on new item additions. Companion Gear While players are waiting for the return of Loyal Gear, the skirmish of Module 11 will drop new Companion stuff. There are six different stat combinations available for all types of slots (Grimoire, Icon, Necklace, Pactblade, Ring, Swordknot, Talisman and Waist). Just like Underdark and Storm Kings Thunder Jewelry, the gear comes in variants of +1 to (assumingly) +5. So after personal Legendary Rings and Marks, players can add Companion Gear to their grind list. It sure seems like the devs really like the format. Companions Next to the gear also a lot of actual Companions have been added. The ZEN store will see a Dragonborn Mage that in line with earlier pets will enhance campaign currency gain. There is also a Master’s Portal Stone probably similar to a Master’s Trowel, but we’re not quite sure what purpose these Portal

Winter Festival, Black Friday and Sea of Moving Ice Sale and Giveaway Details

In today’s post we’d like to share some stuff about the upcoming sales and giveaways. Unfortunately there is currently no clear evidence that Black Friday will once again feature a massive 50% sale on the ZEN market. That doesn’t mean however they won’t be, just that the devs this time might be smart enough to hide it. The ZEN exchange doesn’t need more hype anyway and is rapidly approaching a backlog of 10,000,000 for the first time since the Resonator exploit. Black Friday It however seems that the painted horses we mentioned in our last datamining post are tied to Black Friday. A screenshot indicates they could be a special offer during Thanksgiving and there might be a separate giveaway attached to the holiday as well. We’re still not sure why the Skeletal Wolf didn’t make it to the game during the Masquerade. It was a fit thematically, but never appeared in the ZEN market. Winter Festival As mentioned in this post over at Arcgames the Winter Festival will feature a charge promotion that we think will grant players a companion named “Winter Celebrant”. Its active power increases the drop of Light of Simrils during the Winter Festival by 40% and adds

Sea of Moving Ice Preview Information And a Minor Sneak Peak at Mod 11

MMOs are constantly moving and after our vacation there’s naturally a lot to talk about. In the coming weeks the consoles will get the Storm Kings Thunder update and a bit later PC players will hop into the Sea of Moving Ice. Don’t worry, we’ll have a some sort of primer for you PS4 and Xbox folk. Today however we are going to start off with some news from the preview server. So far the updates haven’t brought some real intriguing information, but there’s still some stuff to report. Giants’ Lockbox First of all the new lockbox is called “Giants’ Lockbox”. The grand prices are a new Artifact and Manticore Companion. Another companion is introduced with the Frozen Galeb Dhur, which is included in the Companion Pack of the lockbox. All these items have pretty intriguing powers. The “Eye of the Giant” Artifact provides a pretty handy all-around buff that scales with the number of surrounding enemies. The Manticore adds a 5% chance to knock down enemies on Crits. Given that most DPS builds operate at high crit rates, this could be very useful. The Frozen Galeb Duhr adds up to 10% damage resistance based on the amount of HP characters have left. The enchantment

Neverwinter Stat Rating Formulas and Mob DR% Table

Deriving the stat rating formulas has always been an interesting topic for all theorycrafters out there. Especially in the 60s era when all ratings had diminishing returns formulas would help determine at which point stacking certain stats no longer made sense. Nowadays it’s slightly less interesting, because all main ratings are basically linear and grant 1% of that rating for every 400 points put into it. But there are exceptions like Armor Penetration and the utility ratings. Some players are behind these formulas to optimize builds or simply gain general knowledge about the game. A player recently hinted at a game-file containing the formulas and we are glad we can share them.

As you can see there are four different formulas, but the one for Power and the other normal stats both yield 1% per 400 rating points. For cooldown reduction you need to double the result. The utility formula has pretty harsh diminishing returns. More than 1,500 points hardly make sense as pictured below. Another number snippet we thought is worth sharing are the mob damage resistances for all levels. It’s a well known fact that endgame mobs feature no higher resistance than 60% and, barring a last-minute change,

Storm Kings Thunder to Introduce Fishing, New PVP Queues and Prebuilt Class Purchases

The preview server was updated with the next patch of Storm Kings Thunder on Tuesday. Our dataminers crawled through the game files and found quite interesting additions that didn’t make the official patch notes. Fishing Fishing is one of the fan-favorites in the Winter Event. It looks like the devs might make it a permanent feature as they have added many fishing related powers to the game. But it’s not just interacting with a node like during the Winter Festival. The new fishing will introduce a full set of Encounters and fishing related At-Wills similar to what we saw with Sahha at the Summer Festivities. Additionally the power names indicate you actually need to work for a catch. The stuff is labeled “M10b” however, so fishing will be introduced later in the Module. PVP Solo and Duo Queues Next to the new Stronghold hourly event there are indications of solo and duo queues. At this point it’s hard to say how exactly this is going to be implemented. It might be hourly events as well or separate PVP queues. Stronghold Siege will also get its own Banner Artifact that buffs Recovery and Incoming Healing for allies and debuffs damage of foes. Prebuilt Characters Prebuilt characters will go

Fangbreaker Island Map and Boss Information

Yesterday the devs released the first information about the new dungeon Fangbreaker Island and we have a few minor details to add. Four Maps Adventurer’s have to fight through four areas called “The Ascent”, “Harshwind Hold”, “Frozen Bay” and “Chilling Tunnels”. Attached are the mini-maps. Boss Powers The powers of all three mentioned bosses can also be looked up in the game files and here’s a full list. At this point however you can merely guess what these powers actually are and do in the game. The Dragon Turtle in example seems to have quite an arsenal of explosives and cannons to fire at adventurers. Have fun with the list and theorizing how the boss fights might look!

Quartermaster’s Receive Expected Nerf With Alliances

Patch day on the preview server brought the potential release candidate for Maze Engine: Alliances, that is scheduled to hit live next Tuesday. The patch war largely unspectacular with just a few new icons added. One thing of interest might be indications that there could be Influence and Stronghold currency double weekends in the future. In earlier releases corresponding event switches had already been added. One major and expectable gameplay related change however was added: The Quartermaster’s Enchantment was nerfed with a cap similar to the Dragon’s Hoard. This was inevitable as the enchant as constructed was just too good and extremely botting friendly. It’s actually surprising they kept the drops BoE, but maybe they are actively trying to give players something to sell and counter botting with other mechanics. Time will tell whether this is successful. If not, expect the drops to eventually become bound as well. We hope you’ve followed our advise to be careful and not go all-in on the enchantment, because it just got a little bit harder to get your investment back. We still rank Quartermaster’s over a Fey Blessing though.

New Class Booster and Key Packs, Event Additions in Preview Patches

We’re back from our short break and restarting in style with a strong datamining update from the preview server. Class Booster Packs With Maze Engine: Alliances, that is set to be released in eight days, the devs will complete the collection of Class Booster Packs and gradually introduce one for the Great Weapon Fighter, Devoted Cleric and Guardian Fighter. Next to the transmutes the included companions are of most interest, especially because the new Bonding mechanic will enable you to freely choose companions as everyone should perform the same. The Cleric’s Deva Companion enhances outgoing and incoming healing and has the ability to shield the party from damage as well as lowering the damage from attacked foes. The GWF’s Boar has a very interesting active bonus that increases damage by 5% against marked targets at epic level (all companions are blue). The pet itself can also mark targets with one of its attacks and it’s going to be interesting to see whether it’s the same type of Mark GWFs and GFs dish out or a separate debuff. The GF’s Werewolf adds Life Steal Severity to its master and can temporarily take over enemies by biting them and turning them into Werewolfs. It’s a funny effect

First Hints At Guild Alliances, More Infos About Jubilee

The Protector’s Jubilee, Neverwinter’s annual birthday party, is scheduled to feature quite a lot of changes. We have already reported that the event will come with a Winter Festival like gift system and additionally we can announce that Strongholds will receive a Jubilee Trader plot. It can host temporary Traders, which produce specific coffer resources for 24 hours. Traders are available for Astral Diamonds, Gems, Gold, Surplus Equipment, the campaign coffers and, most importantly, Influence. Also different icons for vouchers that are tied to the event have been added. They grant discounts for items bought with ADs, Guild Marks, Trade Bars and different Seals. The second area of interest is Module 10 and guild alliances. It’s a well known secret by now that Neverwinter will introduce its version of the Star Trek Online Fleet Armadas. It looks like both designs will match, meaning an alpha guild will be able to invite three beta guilds, which then are able to add three gamma guilds themselves, adding up to the mentioned 13 guilds total (1+3+9). Within an alliance, you will presumably be able to contribute to other guilds coffers. Alpha guilds are probably getting small buffs to experience or AD gain, gamma guilds a reduction to structures to help
