Crucial Change to Entity Power and Weapon Enhancement Interaction Incoming

You guys know we’ll keep you up to date when it comes to the October Bugfix Month, but one particular change is worth a separate mention. While talking about some fixes to powers that currently do not proc weapon enhancements at all, a developer also announced a crucial chance to another interaction.

[su_quote cite=”sgrantdev” url=”https://forum.arcgames.com/neverwinter/discussion/comment/12995486/#Comment_12995486″]Entity based abilities and weapon enchants: The past couple of weeks we have been discussing how weapon enchants should trigger and the intent is that the proc (for enchants that have procs) should fire once on activation of the ability. This means that “entity” based powers should proc initially and no more after that. If there is a case where something needs to work different it should be noted in the tooltip.[/su_quote]

[su_quote cite=”sgrantdev” url=”http://forum.arcgames.com/neverwinter/discussion/comment/12995539/#Comment_12995539″]We understand that other changes will need to be made to support fixing this longstanding issue and we are actively looking into make those changes but fixing the core issue is a key first step. Along with this we will look at weapon enchant power and look at classes that have become reliant on multi proccing. Our goal will be decoupling them from this behavior so they are not limited to only abilities that can cause triggers every quarter of a second.[/su_quote]

This is a rather hefty nerf to builds that currently rely on the Lightning Enhancement proccing multiple times on a DoT-type/entity power. And as Sharpedge rightfully noticed in the thread, it completely kills the diversity. For most builds it’s back to Vorpal, Dread or Feytouched with the GWF being the only notable exception. Nothing is set in stone so far and the devs said they are monitoring the situation, but there’s a chance that the reign of the Lightning Enhancement might be over soon.

I’m going to admit this is a bit beyond my skill set, but it sounds like yet another nerf to SWs, and we need HELP not more slapsINtheFACE. 🙁

@andorra bell i don’t know a single good sw who uses a lightning enchantment. i do agree that sw needs more love, but this nerf seems to hit cw hardest.

yup sounds like SW and righteous DC will be taking a big nerf . Once again congrats the devs on screwing the classes that need to most help . Poor SW’s will be even worse off and anyone that tries to make any attempt at a DPS DC will be lolled x2 in PvP.

I don’t understand why everyone keeps saying SW is getting slapped, Yeah we’ve been nerfed a few times and my SW still can basically solo most the content in NW. She’s amazing, fun and many ways to use her. DPS, heals and in lower dungeons tanking. Maybe a respec might help some SW players to their play style and not someone else. Good luck

oh really? how bout dread and vorpal severity only counting on the first hit of a tick…… so anyone but a gwf will be nerfed to hell

lol to all of you who think this is only for the lightning…….. lemme break it down for ya, anyone who loves them crit ticks with extra severity from the vorpal and dread enchants…… gone after the initial hit…. this will break the enchants for everyone but a gwf…. as if they arent already super dps above everyone else.

vorpal doesnt proc so it will work on every tick, probably the same for dread too.

As an Oathbound Paladin who uses a R12 Lightning Enchantment, I assume this will affect the damage Burning Light will do, which sucks. I use it when soloing. Instead of just letting it hit once, they should perhaps lower the damage it does. I guess this is what they do to make money though, make something you really want then nerf it so other things are more attractive. I guess we’ll see what happens.
