Cryptic Studio Raises Approximately $5,500 for ExtraLife Charity

Cryptic Studios ran their annual fundraiser in support of the ExtraLife charity over the weekend. Last year they hosted a full 24-hour stream and this year switched to a schedule that spanned over Saturday and Sunday. Players could participate in various giveaways, watch different tabletop live plays, and of course see CMs playing Cryptic titles. Neverwinter’s Julia for example appeared on the stream on Sunday morning and adventured for about 45 minutes.

The studio set the initial goal to $3,000, but easily surpassed that. As the Star Trek Online CM noted on Twitter after the event, they even reached two more goals. The final donation amount on screen was $5,468. That’s an incredible amount for a good cause and we’d like to thank the devs for donating their time, and the game’s incredible community for donating money! We sure hope that this will be something Cryptic continues to do in the coming years.

Have you donated any money this year? Or just hang out in the stream and let the Cryptic folks entertain you? Share your thoughts and experience on our social channels, in the comments below, or visit our message board!

That’s pretty sad honestly. Good for them for putting forth the effort and trying – but this should honestly be a reflection of their shitty past and community involvement and treatment. Any knucklehead can set on a corner and pass a boot and raise thousands in a day for damn near any cause. A company/organization that is involved and engaged with their community (costumers) in a positive manner should be able to easily raise $10,000 of dollars.
