Cryptic to Nerf Major Source of Seal Farming Today

Man… feels like the 2000s was all about great female pop music. Beyoncé, Rihanna, Pink, Britney (although she’s more of a 90s bitch), X-Tina, and Nelly Furtado. Her debut single “I’m Like A Bird” was also great, but the vibes of this song… Ok, got carried away here for a second. What the eff does this all have to do with Neverwinter anyway? Well, today we’re focusing on the good things that come to an end, because guess what, your Seal of the Brave farming will take a considerable hit after today’s maintenance!

[su_quote url=”https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/neverwinter/news/detail/10964283-patch-notes%3A-version%3A-nw.100.20180709g.4″]River District rewards for minor Heroic Encounters now give 10 Seals, reduced from 50.[/su_quote]

Whoops, that’s major! In case you missed it: River District quickly became the #1 spot to farm Seals of the Brave since Ravenloft made them the standard seal reward in all content. In fact, we thought it was a major part of the catch-up mechanic. Looks like we were wrong, or the devs changed their mind. Anyway, this nerf is a Cryptic special as they do not mess around with “fine-tuning”, but completely pull the plug. 10 Seals per HE is hardly something to get excited about. It was good knowing you, River District! We’re off to hearing 90s pop on YouTube Ravenloft content.

To me it’s still a bonus and soon enough the seal of the brave will be like the older seals: good to have for refinement but ultimately, irrelevant.

Yeah, read it last night and got a little deflated. I guess it will be good for the accounts where the main toon is actually working that campaign. Now they can experience it with other toons at their IL

didn’t even realize farming hes for seals was a thing. No loss there, get plenty of seals from random queues. Maybe this effects newer players looking to gear up quick? And if so doesn’t that only effect newer players to the game who likely didn’t know this system existed or 10 seals will look like status quo to new players that just reach lvl70. I really can’t imagine there is much impact of this to existing players

You can easily run from one small HE to the next to the next, then back to the first one just as it respawns (5-6 minutes). With enough people in the zone, you spend more time running to each spot than fighting. Easily 100-150 seals every 5 minutes, easy peasy seal farming for new 70s or for alts. Of all the things to fix/nerf I don’t know why the hell THIS was their priority…

TR, in an attempt to salvage a positive from a negative, is it still viable to run round HEs if you really want the seals and how long does it take?.

I was told you previously could get full gear for several classes in a few hours. Don’t press CTRL+F until you are back in PE, buy some gear, replenish Seals when you run out, buy more gear.

        🙁

Barovia SHE gives 20, and barovia BHE gives 40 if they haven’t needed them, so they are probably the best for farming seals

And it was YESTERDAY when looking for a RAQ party that someone in PE told me to unlock River District to farm seals, as it was much faster than the pain of RAQs.

So guess where I was going to go tonight after their 4 GB update? Do they not realise I spend cash on Zen when I am making progress with multiple Alts? Fuck you, Craptrick. Fuck you in the ear. This is not the first time you’ve screwed me over.

They did this to stop people making so many AD from salvage, so it’s screwed up people gearing Alts as well.

Once again, Putz’s analysis is completely wrong and seems to consider only his own position as if no other players even exist. Must be a Republican.

And I just spent three days researching and specced my Halfling GF SM as Protector/Tank in load out 2.
    * I stripped all enchants and runes from all other characters,
    * completed any “Ready to Upgrade!” Azures to 12,
    * packed Defence
    * made Primal Weapons Legendary
    * changed dps artifacts for Tank artifacts and upgraded them
    * used my Dwarf IV Primal dps armour to get seals for GF Primal Tank armour.
    * converted Twisted/Burning/Drowned weapons to RP

And it worked. Only 12.3k (no SH Boons, so Skill), but immune to Valindra’s Death Grip and finally killed her while surrounded by 100 Wraiths long after the party wiped. Her dps sucks, though 🙂

She can tank FBI and MSP as long as we have a decent DC and GWF. 15k GWF and 12k AC DC, fine. 11k GWF and 10k OP, not fine. 15k TR, not fine.

So I have full set of Primal for dps and Tank GF, full DO DC set and OP weapons.

I still need OP and AC DC armour and both weapons and armour for HR, TR, SW, CW and GWF.

Of COURSE this has a major impact on existing characters.

And I was not even just after the salvage.

    😡

Not sure what politics has to do with this, but I’m not a republican so stick it in your own ear.

If you had been here to farm seals for gear in module 6, you would not think this was a big deal

and btw that’s not an insult to republicans. Because I respect anyone who is willing to do the research enough to sit at the big boy table and have a conversation on any issues. I was only clarifing that @Contractions of Fate was wrong in his assessment.

Well, from stuff you’ve said before, you sure ain’t no Democrat. It’s attitudes, not politics. Also, you have been deliberately dishonest, deceitful and misleading in the past in an attempt to appear to win a Straw Man argument. So perhaps a Young Earth Creationist? 😀

          :p

Anyway, forget it, I was not in the best of moods earlier, but your assessment remains wrong. It does not affect YOU, therefore you can’t imagine how it could affect ANY existing players. Argument from Ignorance fallacy. Like Ancient Alientards.

I was here near the start of Mod 2, so i don’t see what you are trying to say about Mod 6. I don’t recall ever getting gear for seals in those days at all, except PvP gear. The multiple Seal Vendors in PE sold only garbage gear and by the time you had enough seals, you’d already found better stuff in dungeons.

As long as you weren’t kicked before the loot roll.

But when Mod 6 started I was so outraged when my strongest character got one-shot in IWD by a Winter Wolf, I abandoned all the others and focused on that Dwarf DO DC until a friend convinced me of her power sharing AC DC build some time in Mod 7.

With the DO, I already had enough Seals and Glory to get a full set of the new PvP gear and upgrade it with Black Ice forging, So that’s what I did. With the skills I learned in PvP, it was irrelevant that some of my stats were wasted on Tenacity in PvE.

I think that’s why they massively increased the number of Seals of Triumph needed in a later mod. So people with excess seals saved up could not just buy the new PvP gear it as soon as it was available.

          🙂

obviously you aren’t ready to sit at the big boy table. Your lack of memory regarding module 6 is pretty telling. If i want ignorance i’ll ask your opinion.

Dont forget the latest nerf on TBars, 65 TBars for 1 nightmare wep… whelp!

I think this is bigger than people realize. This redirects TBs from investing in salvage to scrolls and dyes to sell on AH. It sets the absolute minimum value of tbars at 65 tbar for an epic salvage. Basically anything in the tbar store should be plummeting in value.

Agreed. It’s not surprising to see the prices going downhill right now. Honestly, they seem to be making TBars more and more irrelevant – cutting a noticable portion of the earnings from opening lockboxes – to.. well.. bottom rock atm. Ever since the Coal and Pres ward incident, TBars had virtually being regulated to salvage duty and now that’s gone too :/

I used to farm river district for seals of the protector and if there was a group running round it was fairly easy to make 3 HE’s in about 10 minutes. In an hour you could make 12k RAD from the salvage. You can make much more from doing multi ETOS runs so i feel its a shame that they have now removed another way we had to make some money. it became a bigger issue because they changed the type of seals to seals of the brave which we can cash in for almost BiS equips whereas before the equpment we got from seals of the protector was of no real use unless you were a fresh lvl70.

Its now really easy to jump into the game as a new player and the moment you hit lvl70 you can pretty much get gear which is almost BiS. On top of that you can also get access to all the content. The vistani gear pack you receive when you arrive in barovia gives you a complete set of lvl460 gear and from there its a small hop to lvl500 primal. Makes me wonder why i have invested so much time and effort in gearing up my toons over the years.

I agree, Mike. Although I don’t resent new players being able to go to Ravenloft. Item Level does not = Skill and they won’t be doing RAQs or CR any time soon.

That Vistani weapon set bonus is lousy, but at least they get a lot of ArPen and they can smash though Sharandar etc for their boons. But even the value of boons is getting a bit over-shadowed by the gear these days.
