Could The Dread Enchantment Be A True Pay-2-Win Addition?

Has Neverwinter introduced its first ever pay-2-win enchantment? We’ve already talked about the Void Locket ZEN addition that packages Enchanted Keys with new desirable items, but we were wrong about the type of the enchantment. Other than supposed the Void Locket does not contain the Shadowclad, but the new Dread Weapon Enchantment.

This indeed makes more sense, because Shadowclad doesn’t add enough incentive to get the package when the Shard is a guaranteed drop from Castle Never, but that also means the Dread Enchantment is currently solely available for ZEN. And the only matching refinement points are coming from the Dread Spinel in the Trade Bar store, although you should be able to use Thaumaturgic Stones as well.

We don’t want to draw final conclusions, because it is a possibility that the Dread Enchantment will eventually be available elsewhere and the devs only want to use its introduction to make money. There is a Shard in the game files, which could drop from future content, and the first 20-key package addition, the Dusk Boots Pack, was made available in the New Life Lockbox later, although that’s technically also not a free-2-play source. On the other hand the Enchantment was a noticed absentee in the developer blog about the Maze Engine Module loot and other than the dusk Boots it is best-in-slot equipment for some. Its Transcendent version (link) combines the best slot debuff ingame with enhanced personal DPS. You need eight packages for the Perfect version, but don’t forget you can greatly reduce the actual cost of the enchantment (or the Goat) by reselling the lockbox drops.

We can only guess what the future will hold, but for now the Dread Enchantment is an exclusive for those willing to pay 2,250 ZEN for the package.

I find it quite pay to win actually seeing as the box has a ‘chance’ to drop the enchant or the got which is going for like 174k AD compared to the 500k or so lesser dread enchant. Also 20 keys guarantee nothing in my experience u can hit gold at the first or just get a few drops in 20 not consistent. Loved the enchant but neverwinter being advertised as a F2P game always had alternates to pay to win so heres to hoping for future changes to the enchant.

technically they can claim everything is free 2 play thanks to the ingame ad to zen exchange.

And you need this enchantment to “win” because…? All PVE content is easily beaten with other gear. PVP is too broken for a slightly more powerful enchantment to tip any scales.

Please tell me you did not just say that. Dread is the no.1 damage enchant as of yet. I have seen undergeared trapper HR’s win 5v1s with a T. Dread. Either you are a retard to sauy it won’t make a difference in pvp, or you don’t know the effects.
