Fixing The Neverwinter Campaigns: Fury of the Feywild

The devs are keen on keeping the old content viable and they tweaked old Neverwinter campaigns more than once in the past, but there are still some annoying inconsistencies that need to be addressed. So let’s look at each of the campaigns in the coming weeks and discuss which areas could be tweaked. To start things off we’ll be dealing with Neverwinter’s first content edition: Fury of the Feywild.

Crpytic made some strides in many areas like generally bringing the length of campaigns closer together. The biggest culprit in that matter has always been Fury of the Feywild and while it still is the longest campaign to complete, it’s not feeling like taking forever anymore. Theoretically you can complete the campaign in under seven weeks, but that’s not happening for everyone because it assumes running the dailies each and every day. Which is not realistic for a casual players with limited playing and five campaigns to complete. It doesn’t help that the campaign boost also is the only one of its kind that lacks to include all major currencies.

The Iliyanbruen gear is in a weird spot, because better gear is so easy to obtain that I wouldn’t recommend getting it, especially since you need the currency to complete the campaign anyway. And by the time you can spare the currency, you should have way outleveled the set. The consumables are great though, the Potion of Heroism is something everybody should grind for.

The only great campaign task is Assist Ritual Magic, which nets a Fey Blessing. Assist War Effort is trash. Who does 27 (!!) dailies to get 15 additional Gold Crescent? This quest is probably meant to get rid of overflow currency, but the exchange rate is beyond pathetic. Assist Artisans suffers from the same problem as the other Iliyanbruen gear. It has no niche in the game right now. And that is scales to character level, but is only accessible to level 70s, makes no sense. You also can’t make one MC key per day because the daily routine is missing Crescents.

Fixes:

  • The boons need a slight decrease in campaign currency to make it less grindy and further shorten the duration.
  • Make Assist War Effort exchange three of each currency for 30 Crescents.
  • Change the key task to 15 Crescents.
  • Add five Crescents to Battle for Sharandar.
  • Alter Assist Ritual Magic to 9 of each currency and 50 Sparks, but scratch the ADs.
  • Delete the Cloak and Belt of the Seldarine. (*** UPDATE *** thanks to our users for pointing out this is still being used for leveling)
  • Reduce the Cloak and Belt of the Seldarine to 90 Crescents.
  • Reduce Iliyanbruen gear to 50 Sparks and three of each currency.
  • Move the Iliyanbruen Cloak and Ring to the store for 100 Sparks and nine of each currency and change them to BtA.
  • Let the campaign Artisan Pack drop BoP transmutes of the old Fabled gear.
  • Add another Thaumaturgic Bag for 20 Sparks.
  • Add three Seedlings, Charms and Blades to the Bag of Sharandar Treasures.

With these changes, players would be able to do one Castle Key per day by just completing Battle for Sharandar + the lair and could decide to do more for Fey Blessings, store items and potions. The Fey Blessing becomes a true farmable BoE item. It’s capped to one each three days and doing 27 quests plus dailies for it is reasonably time consuming. Adding a sink for Sparks and having a sink for Crescent and other currency through Assist War Effort also makes sure players can get rid of leftover currency at any time.

Iliyanbruen gear is now a 3-day acquisition and needs only nine quests to complete, down from 27. Nobody should be forced to grind too much for it, but since it has an unique skin it shouldn’t be just gifted as well. The scalable jewelry takes longer to get and the change to BtA allows the scalable item to finally serve its purpose, because you can farm it for other toons. I’m also sure people would love to have the option to get old skins back.

That’s it for Module 1! Next time we’ll be dealing with Shadowmantle! In the meantime make sure to post your own suggestions in the comments below or at our forum.

Nah, 60lv artifact gear is still great for leveling 60-70. Its additional utility slot for azure.

Also I would like to raise number of fey tokens gotten with relics. Shar tokens slowing SH upgrade too much.

Very true. I forgot that the campaign tokens are the only ones of its kind that do not include all currency. Will update!

“Delete the Cloak of the Seldarine and Belt of the Seldarine.” This is strange. Good and cheap gear for leveling
