How to Get the Required Everfrost Resistance for Fangbreaker Island

Over the week the needed Everfrost Resistance for Fangbreaker Island emerged as a hot topic in the Neverwinterverse. Multiple topics deal with the issue as the requirements have recently been lowered to 28%. The original patch notes said 29% by the way, but that was apparently a typo.

Everfrost Resistance an annoyance for some

Fangbreaker Island Dragon TurtleSome players think that 28% is still too high, especially when dealing with many alts. Others even want to remove it outright because it’s not needed.

Anyway, it seems this is the percentage the devs want to go with going forward. So we want to talk about ways to reach it. Some of the outcry can probably be credited to a lack of knowledge about the Everfrost Resistance sources. First and foremost Frostborn gear has it, so players understandably are worried they are forced buying into it. But that’s not the case, as Asterdahl also noted in one of the threads.

[su_quote cite=”asterdahl” url=”http://forum.arcgames.com/neverwinter/discussion/comment/12869815/#Comment_12869815″]we explicitly balanced the requirement so that you can reach it without frostborn armor[/su_quote]

The campaign grants more than you might know

The campaign does not only give 4% from boons, but will also feature new Underdgarments, Reinforcement Kits and Makos’ Signet that can add another 19%. This would boost the EF Resistance gained from the campaign to 23%. Add 5% from an Everfrost Potion and you are already covered. If you don’t like the temporary buff than you need the Relic Boots that can drop from the major Heroic Encounters in Bryn Shander. Guilds can also buy a new buff food in their Strongholds that adds 2% to cover for a missing boon for example.

It might not make the requirement reasonable, but players are absolutely not forced to buy into the dungeon. All they need to do is fully unlock the campaign and grind out the Relic boots. The Greater Underwear and Armor Kits requires a considerable amount of Voninblod and Ten-Towns Supplies though. It’s not surprising players need to put in work to reach the 28% free-to-play style. It fits the pay-to-accelerate approach of the game. It could very well be that you are unable to enter Fangbreakers as soon as you have unlocked it, because you are forced to complete other campaign tasks first to get the Underwear etc.

With Sea of Moving Ice the Relic Weapons add to the freely available Everfrost Resistance sources. Starting at green rarity both add 6%, but they come with a substantial grind and solely in terms of meeting Fangbreaker requirements you might be better off getting other stuff.

You can buy up to 30%

If you don’t mind spending than you can of course mostly buy the mats needed to restore the Weapons on the Auction House. Adding three pieces of empowered Frostborn (4+4+6) and the Everfrost Armor Kits (10) will get you to 30%. You still need to complete the campaign up to the dungeon unlock and do your SoMI dailies, but this should probably be the fastest way to get the resistance.

We hope this helps clearing up some of the confusion around Everfrost Resistance. What do you think about the requirements?  Share it in the comments below or visit the corresponding thread on our message board.

yes.. all for get that is not needed!!!! that you have to empower!!!!! That is garbage otherwise, outside of a gating for this one EFFING damn dungeon.

You sound down right reasonable about it. Its a old mechanic that was originally flawed that they fluffed up to a grind about six fold to the original.

And the dungeon isn’t any good to begin with…. sure, some players have to finish everything and accomplish everything… but those OCD clowns are a percent, not a player base. Why am I going to do a retarded grind to spend three times as long in a dungeon than I’d spend in CN and get LESS for doing it?

What really upsets me about this, is this was supposed to be sort of a reward for spending all this time or money (or both) for playing their darn game for so long. Why did we all join massive strongholds alliances, spent milliions of AD in donations, ect ect.. so we can be slapped in the face, with such crap mechanic and grinding walls.

This is not a slap at you, by any means, but you’re horribly mistaken in thinking that the devs would chose to reward us at all. PC is a test bed for console and XBOX is now a test bed for PS4. They want to see where they can make the most money in PS4 and fine tune along the way there.

This WAS correct, I tried it when they first came out. However I have just tested after this mornings update and currently have both potions up. So looks like we can get 10% from potions, barring another ‘fix’.

    AAAAnd I was wrong. 🙁

Both potions are useable at the same time, however the frost resist does not stack. One of the potions is apparently just giving its relic bonus not additional resist. Sorry for the incorrect observation.

FYI, Makos’ Ring gives 3% Everfrost resistance as well. Obtained in the last campaign mission in Cold Run. Throw it on a pet until it’s time to run Fangbreaker.

It would be nice if this were updated to include the new Greater Reinforcement kits (5% ea), relic weapons (3% ea), and Makos’ Signet (3%).

It would be nice if it included the other armor pieces available. There are more than boots and gloves available?

This article is aimed at people that want to get into Fangbreaker Island. More armor pieces are only available once you’ve already unlocked the dungeon.
