Glorious Resurgence Lockbox RNG Test

Today we continue our RNG tests and reviews of lockboxes by looking at the current version of the Glorious Resurgence Lockbox. Previous tests of this series include the Many-Starred Lockbox and Lockbox of the Nine. Click through if you’re interested in those results. The Glorious Resurgence Lockbox has been reworked some time ago to always features the blue drops of the most recent lockbox. This was a smart choice as it prevents outdating. Also if you are not a fan of the current epic and legendary rewards, or already own all of them, you can easily switch to Resurgence. The lockbox currently contains all epic and legendary rewards in its Choice Packs up to the Firemane Lockbox.

Now let’s get into the numbers, which I have also incorporated in our RNG toolbox.

The Results

These tests confirm the recent trend of upped legendary and epic prizes. The Legendary Pack came in at 0.14%, the same drop rate as the Arcane Whirlwind and Celestial Stag. Overall you have roughly a 1% chance to get any of the major rewards. The distribution of the blue drops matches the one of the Lockbox of the Nine. They all have the same chance except the The Lord’s Stronghold Pack and the The Quartermaster’s Professions Pack. The Stronghold Pack drops twice as much as the Profession Pack and all other packs twice as much as the Stronghold Pack and four times as much as the Professions Pack (4:2:1 distribution).

vs. Of the Nine

What players normally want to know is whether it’s better to open the current lockbox or Resurgence. This time it’s an easy choice as we’ve already lined out that Of the Nine isn’t the greatest of all lockboxes. With the blue drops being equal, it makes much more sense to go for Resurgence. The Starfade Stag currently sells for under 300k on PC, the cheapest Resurgence Epic Pack starts above that. Same is true for the legendary reward. So our advise would be to grab the Sigil of the Nine off the AH and unless you don’t absolutely like the look of the Celestial Stag, open something else. Could be Resurgence if you like the blue drops or past lockboxes.

Outlook

The Glorious Resurgence Lockbox is a great concept and will likely retain its value thanks to its Choice Packs. You could even make a point that opening it always comes with better value than the current lockbox. In the end there’s a reason why Resurgence is one of the more expensive lockboxes on the Auction House. I think you can never really do wrong with it. Just make sure you know the values of the choices when opening a pack. You don’t want to pull a legendary prize and then turn it into the Token of Chromatic Storm.

The new lockbox coming with Chult seems to be substantially better when it comes to the blue drops.
    A few highlights:
    – coalescent ward can drop out of packs
    – all green drops have been removed
    – purple drops from the packs have been upped

Might be worth saving up keys for chult.

Whats your opinion about this j0shi? Looking forward to your mass opening RNG test. Any idea when you will release that one?
