Launch weeks are always one of the more busy ones in a developer’s calendar and here’s why: Issues! Heart of Fire naturally didn’t go live without a healthy dose as well and we’ll try to quickly highlight the most important ones in this article.
Eagerly getting into the new Workshop system didn’t exactly turn out that joyful for players that chose “Callum” as their initial retainer. The very first intro quests offers a wide range of possible retainers that do not have any gameplay impact. Picking Callum however will get the quest line into a stuck state and you cannot progress. This will be fixed on Thursday. In the meantime, do not pick him as your retainer!
There are also a few minor issues outlined by Janne here. Those have already been reported on preview, but apparently were not important enough to get fixed in time for the live build. The most severe of those is that the same Artisans can still apply even if already hired. That’s a bug and shouldn’t happen. Also getting a fix on Thursday are some disconnect issues on the Workshop map.
Illusionist’s Gambit and New Leveling Reward = Fail!
You know what you shouldn’t do when handing out additional rewards for leveling up? Leaving a major XP glitch in the game! But that’s what the devs did. Illusionist’s Gambit allowed players to complete Bronze in a private queue for some substantial experience gain. This has been going on for quite some time and was well known. Obviously with the new leveling rewards in place, players soon figured the best way to level up and started exploiting experience in scaling content. As reaction Cryptic has deactivated the skirmish in private queues. Whoops.
How About Those Item Levels?
Another delivery out of the giggle department are the updated item levels of Stronghold Weapons. Some haven’t been updated at all which isn’t too funny to be honest. But lower qualities featuring higher item levels than legendary certainly is, and that’s exactly what happened to some. Please do not fall for scammers that want to sell you the bugged weapons by the way. Just wait for Thursday to sort out the mess.
Speaking of sorting out! The Auction House can’t any longer. Sorting is all messed up and looking up the cheapest items and such turns out be to quite a pain at the moment. Again the advise is to wait until Thursday’s maintenance to not accidentally pay more ADs than you should!
