Long-Standing Guild Got Sold… Quo Vadis Midnight Express?

In what seems to be an unexpected development, long-standing PC guild Midnight Express was sold with its leader apparently riding into the sunset. A user on our Discord tipped us off by posting a screenshot that shows a guild chat interaction in which members are left guessing what the eff just happened.

Apparently a user named “itsthexypat” took over control and moved the guild into their personal alliance. A Facebook post by guild leader “Casper” later clarified the process. He claimed that “broken promises from the devs, lack of conduct and lack of interest” is pulling him from the game. By selling his personal account to “chinese farmers” and the guild to another player he tried “to get back some of the money” he had spent on the game.

Guild sells are not uncommon, because Strongholds attaches a value to them. It is however the first time a prominent PC guild is affected. For its players it’s annoying to shocking, because they might lose months of grinding. In the end it’s essentially one individual leader benefiting at the expense of a guild’s members.

Was Midnight Express on the decline?

As long-standing guild Midnight Express surely has seen better days. According to reports some high caliber players left to other guilds recently. Additionally Casper himself was allegedly banned for botting. He got the account back, but with all R12s and ADs stripped. So this might have been the final nail in the coffin for him personally and the sell only the end of an ongoing decline.

Nonetheless it’s sad to see this happening to a familiar name. We think Midnight Express was founded early after launch in 2013 and once was a breeding ground for PC streamers. The most popular example was Kali Gold, but there were times when multiple ME streamers were dominating Twitch. It also has always been home to well known and/or controversial players, like premier PVP trash talker Merciless.

Some comments indicate ME since recovered from the events, although some members found homes elsewhere. We certainly hope everyone affected was able to land on their feet!

Hahaha! Unexpected event?? Anyone who ever passed through Midnight, knows it has always been an object of ego brush for their Megalomaniac leader. There’s been several attempts on his part to sell, both Midnight and Daybreak. I even think he did sell Daybreak at some point, to the current leader.
That guild was a home to over 50 people who left saddened that all their work was being put to crap just to satisfy the leaders weird impulses. So no, it was not unexpected… In fact, Im quite surprised it didnt happen before, when everyone left and created Veritas Vincit. He did gather more followers, finishef the job and sold their hard work for proffit. Laughable.

I was in Midnight when he sold Daybreak, then told everybody the guy stole the guild from him and had everybody talking crap about him. Then he expected everybody to build up a new Daybreak. I left after that, not gonna spend my time and money so he can just sell the guild and claim it was stolen. Oh and he snorts, constantly, for Christ’s sake take some allergy medicine.

No no… From what I’m aware of, the guild has been recovered. It’s not in an alliance currently. Casper though, has left quite a while back and handed over the guild to some officers. I might be wrong, but this is what I think happened. ME had issues for quite a while, it faced a split, and all members were kicked a while back, allegedly by Casper when he supposedly tried to sell the guild, but it always recovered and continued to exist.

Because people like to kick a dead man.
From all the people that left MNE in that first mass leaving, the ones who got into the other guilds, they all got into somewhere that didnt exploit their hard work for selfish reason, and I say this very close to all those events regarding the mass leaving. As long as Casper is involved with Leadership, every guild he owns, he OWNS it… He wants to do as he pleases and any other reasons be damned, and I dont even think he realises it himself. Toxic people doing toxic shit.

Sad, but not surprising. This is just another trick learned from console players. Shout out to Clint for opening than can of worms. Good luck to anyone still playing NW. I hope you trust your leaders.

I’m an ME member. there was some drama… officially: “Casper handed over his part of the guild to itsthexypat for an undisclosed monetary gain, this user then went nuts, and tried to do a coupe demoting all members, changing everything structure wise. Lucky key members and parts of the leadership team were quick to undo the damage, with Riley, Sleek Pepper, Shakul, and Charg now helming the guild”. Obviously people enjoy there conspiracy theories, and wonder how close to the truth the events of that day are… truth is the only people that know are Casper and itsthexypat…

TLDR: Midight Express was recovered and is now under a solid leadership team that will not allow this type of drama to occur again.

Yes, it was quickly recovered due to the team banding together and collectively filing false reports that the guild leader’s account was hacked. Then, luckily someone has a personal line to a developer at cryptic and was able to convince him to restore the positions of the members without investigation. The trick is to stick together and keep your story straight. The scary thing is that this can happen to any guild as long as someone knows the right people at cryptic.

That is scary… never thought of that before. Well, hopefully other guilds will be safe from that.

So again, you can sell the guild. Get the money, then recover it back cuz you sold it under “hack”, and Cryptic doesnt investigate that?? HAHAHAH Thats cool.
Feel sorry for the dude who got fucked over, with real life, hard earned cash.
    Oh wait… No I dont. :/

Considering what happened, and no offense to any Member/Officer who worked hard under his rule, MNE should be put at GH16 (state it was in, when Casper took over it again) and given to the oldest Active player in there. Casper’s account banned, and a sweet Lawsuit, cuz you know, Terms of Service and shit. But this is just me and Im like Jon Snow, I know nothing… :/

My guild was approached by Casper a couple months ago when the MiD alliance was still going strong. We were one of their Swords with 3 guilds under us. He talked about jumping to another alliance and wanted Ghost Wolf Warriors to go with him. We talked it over together as a guild and decided it wasn’t in our best interest and also didn’t want to abandon the other guilds who depended on us. One of those guilds was xypat’s guild “More Than Just a Gear Score” which has since changed it’s name. Long term plans we wanted to be Helm in our own alliance someday but felt we weren’t ready and MiD treated us pretty well. If something isn’t broken, you don’t fix it. We were a little shocked when within an hour of giving Casper our answer, he left which dissolved the entire alliance without telling the other guild leaders, splitting the Swords into their own Helms and dividing everyone. We felt bad for the other guilds because we were the only ones who had the head’s up on the situation.

xypat was slowly becoming an issue as he originally abandoned his guild the day after I told him his guild was safe under us, to go after MiDs boons. Casper and I talked with him as his guild completely stopped growing. My concern wasn’t speedy growth but a leader not leading. Casper bumped him back and xypat went back to his guild to lead it again. His attitude changed a lot. Good for his guild but extremely needy towards the alliance. Constantly begging for donations and help etc… this didn’t please us to see and many in both guilds (MiD and GWW) were concerned. It’s important for a guild to stand on it’s own and for a leader to lead by example.

The same day Casper split the MiD alliance, we also removed xypat’s guild from our newly forming alliance. We wanted a fresh start without drama or negativity. He soon after bought Daybreak from Casper, renamed it, and made it helm of an alliance he formed.

One of the things that we take great pride of in Ghost Wolf Warriors is that we did not have anything handed to us. MiD and a few others from the other guilds sometimes gave us donations but we stood on our own and were growing. The greatest part is, we did it with no real life money and never asked our members for anything. We formed end of January 2017 and now beginning of August we’re on our way to guild hall 11. We learned a lot from Casper and the other members in the alliance and still keep in touch with some of them. I’m grateful for the time spent and am sorry to see this bad situation happen to good people. I’m very pleased to hear that MiD is back in good hands and away from people who really don’t care about others.

Good Luck MiD and we’ll see you guys in game!

What matters most is, believe in your leadership. The good ones exist out there. Fuck ups happen. But not every G.Leader is like that. And many leaderships often work towards a prosperous future.

Shout out to all the “Sincere” G.Leaders out there.

This is 100% accurate by the way. I’m no liar but thank you.
