Lost City of Omu Patrol Quests, Treasure Hunting, and Attached Rewards

As part of our extensive preview series of Neverwinter’s next module “Lost City of Omu”, we are tackling the Patrol Quests, Treasure Hunting and attached rewards today. Just like in Tomb of Annihilation, Patrol Quests serve multiple purposes in the campaign. They net you up to 30 Lost Idols towards your Weekly Haul and six Treasure Maps that come with some unique and intriguing rewards.

Patrol Quests

Players can pick up Patrol Quests at the main Omu contact Ekene-Afa in Port Nyanzaru (next to the Merchant Prince). There are six new Patrols in Module 13, two in Port Nyanzaru and four on the adventure map. Ekene-Afa offers two random ones per hour, and it’s possible to stack and batch complete them. You can theoretically do as many Patrols as you like, but only six times per week Ekene offers an associated quest “Patrolling Omu” for the Lost Idols and Treasure Map.

Patrols are small instanced quests in which you have to slay mobs and collect three caches. It’s as easy as it gets and doing six of them shouldn’t take you longer than 30 minutes on a DPS character. Some instances use recycled assets and rooms, some are completely new.

Treasure Hunting

Treasure Hunting has been a steady feature of Neverwinter ever since Module 10. In the Lost City of Omu it’s once again tied to the Patrol Quests and capped at six chests per week and character. Once acquired, the Treasure Maps show a picture of one of fifteen locations on the adventure map or Undercity where you can dig up a chest. For you lazy folks that don’t want to figure out the locations themselves, Youtuber Rainer has provided Unblogged with maps that you can find below. Attached Rewards

[blog_subscription_form]In Tomb of Annihilation, Treasure Hunting was mainly a way to work towards your Weekly Haul and gain some extra Salvage. The Ring of the Hunter +4 was a nice item to get some Movement on characters, but had no real place in endgame. And while the Mask of the Voodoo Witch was viable for tanks, you could get it pretty fast and there was no need to grind substantially. This probably changes in the Lost City of Omu because the attached “Ring of the Gravestriker” is superb. It features Power and Critical Strike, an additional Power proc when above 85% Hit Points, and comes with two offensive slots with its +4 version. That probably smells like best-in-slot for almost any DPS characters and their pets. Player will probably try to get multiple +4 and +5 versions as soon as possible. Additionally the chests has a chance to drop a new unique mask for defensive minded toons, and features those Voodoo Dolls known from Mod 12, minor refining points and some campaign currency. As pitshade pointed out in the comments, the Lost Idols from Treasure Maps count towards an extra “hunt” totem cap of 25. So you are still able to get currency even if your Weekly Haul is already full.

Can you make the maps so that you can click on them to enlarge them? Might be useful for some people with less than perfect eyes 🙂 (especially the 12 map images picture)

I didn’t realize yet by the way that the +4 has double offensive! Gamechanger!

Sigh. Sometimes I wish I had stayed focused on my DC and stayed active in the Zerg Channel, rather than playing multiple Alts. Now we have maps, and the mod is not due out for weeks!

Those guys will be honing their skills on the Test Server, and when the new mod hits they will have all the new BIS gear and Boons in 2 or 3 weeks!

    LOL! 🙂

The totems from treasure maps count towards the hunt totem cap of 25. Not sure if that is documented anywhere but it might be good to know.
