The Lowbie Diaries Vol. 31: Summer Festival Profit

Lowbie Diaries BannerWelcome to a project, experiment, challenge or whatever you wanna call it. Normally experiencing the content with well-geared toons, I figured it would be quite interesting to approach the game from the perspective of a casual player. How does it feel starting from scratch and build up a character without the help of your mains? How long does it take until you are geared enough for the latest endgame content? Welcome to the Lowbie Diaries, it should be fun!

In the last edition of the diaries I recapped how I started the Summer Festival off the wrong foot. I lost nearly 300,000 AD on my lowbie DC, but predicted the event would be a success regardless. Turned out I was right as my little Cleric made her first million. I got lucky with a Kessell Artifact from Mithral Tickets and invested the rest in Enchantments and a South Sea Fashion piece. I have not sold everything yet, but will supposedly get to 1,000,000 AD in the next days.

I have not yet fully decided how to spend the ADs other than starting the VIP subscription for the account. With the other 500,000 I could be starting the bonding companion progression, but it might be worth waiting a bit to see how Module 10 plays out. As already mentioned I invested my Favors in the Water Horse to get the 80% speed, which is actually a nice upgrade for the character. I still need to get the first set of level 70 armor to be comfortably able to do the campaigns.

For the other lowbie the Summer Festival was equally lucrative, but other than on my DC I can wait a bit here and sell the stuff gradually as I don’t need the AD asap. It’s a general problem for lowbies that you can’t play the market as good because you need the currency left and right. The same is true for the more valuable Influence Strongboxes, which I can’t use yet without a guild. But nonetheless the event provided a major leap for my DC.

I might actually be exploring the guild options for the DC next. Especially with alliances I’m interested what a ~2,000 item level can get into. A decent Gauntlet Guild should already be neat.

See you next time!
