The Lowbie Diaries Vol. 32: Full Rank 10

Lowbie Diaries BannerWelcome to a project, experiment, challenge or whatever you wanna call it. Normally experiencing the content with well-geared toons, I figured it would be quite interesting to approach the game from the perspective of a casual player. How does it feel starting from scratch and build up a character without the help of your mains? How long does it take until you are geared enough for the latest endgame content? Welcome to the Lowbie Diaries, it should be fun!

My lowbie CW reached another milestone last week as it sports full Rank 10s now, which transfers to 3,700 item level. I also made the switch to the Dancing Shield to complete the full debuff theme. I kept the original Goat layout so you can see the difference between the max HP build and the current one. Although the character is not BIS and currently only has Greater Bondings, I consider it finished. It is at max buffing potential (minus the High Vizier set, but at 40M I don’t see how the account could acquire it in any reasonable time) and more upgrades don’t majorly add to its efficiency.

Progression done!

Therefore the progression is done! I will still stuff RPs into the enchantments along the way and upgrade what’s possible, but at this point the currency can otherwise safely be invested into another character. When looking back this major push from 3,000 in April to 3,700 now was mainly possible due to the events. I don’t do that much AH stuff with the account, so simply playing (campaign, dailies, events) is the main source of income. The reworked Siege, Protector’s Jubilee and Summer Festival combined with the clever use of double weekends created ADs out of nowhere. The crash of the masterwork market could mean my approach of making ADs will no longer be viable going forward though. Welcome to the ever changing economy of MMOs.

Campaign grind

While the CW has taken another leap it’s baby steps for the DC. I bought VIP for the money from the Summer Festival and am still in the process of selling drops to resub. I also claimed two pieces of endgame gear from the AH (Frostborn Gloves Pack & Dusk Boots Pack). I don’t exactly care about stats right now as I simply want to be able to run campaigns comfortably. I plan to add the Head and Armor from Trade Bars whenever I’ll have enough from opening lockboxes with the daily key.

As long as you are not able to really get into the first tier of dungeons, progression is pretty boring. I do two leveling dungeons per day and progress in one or two of the campaigns. Because Storm Kings Thunder eats up time on other characters, I have to keep my activity on the DC capped. On the other hand I can’t do most of the campaigns anyway, at least not efficiently. It’s currently limited to Elemental Evil, Sharandar and Tyranny of Dragons. I even stopped Maze Engine after I couldn’t solo some random quest. It’s not too bad however since the campaigns I can do right now are actually the longest and most annoying ones. Dread Ring, Icewind Dale and Maze Engine will be smooth 30-day completions eventually.

See you next time!
