The Lowbie Diaries Vol. 35: Another Month has Passed?!

Lowbie Diaries BannerWelcome to a project, experiment, challenge or whatever you wanna call it. Normally experiencing the content with well-geared toons, I figured it would be quite interesting to approach the game from the perspective of a casual player. How does it feel starting from scratch and build up a character without the help of your mains? How long does it take until you are geared enough for the latest endgame content? Welcome to the Lowbie Diaries, it should be fun!

Writing this episode of the Lowbie Diaries I realized that the project sneakily has gone from a weekly to a monthly write-up. Part of the issue is me not playing as much as I used to and therefore spending the time on my mains. But there’s honestly not a whole lot of things to talk about at this point of character progression.

Still doing campaigns…

At the Underdark Campaign event I gathered 7,000 Faerzress and can complete the campaign gradually. During the Winter Event I’m fishing for currency and hope to complete Icewind Dale and Dread Ring soon. Then it’s Storm Kings Thunder and Maze Engine to wrap up the campaigns. Tl;dr: It’s a slow yet steady process.

In terms of gear I’m going to settle for the Burning set. On a bigger account you can farm the necessary Marks for the Runic set for an Alt. As Lowbie however you simply don’t have any shot at the set any time soon. So I brought Artificing to level 25 and crafted the Burning Weapons. Once all campaigns are completed I can fully turn attention to itemization. I already have a build in mind and just like the campaigns it’s not really difficult to get there, it just takes time. Good news is that you see progression every day in the campaigns, there is however not a lot of interesting stuff to report.

I have no clue how to get my Weapon and Armor Enchantment to a decent level however. Foss said they will be making Coalescent Wards more available and I sure hope that’s true.

Longterm?

My lowbie Cleric is not quite there yet, but I’m confident that I’ll be eventually able to farm everything up to Castle Never. Currently there’s just one bigger obstacle to overcome and that is Fangbreaker Island and Svardborg. The step from Castle Never to Mod 10 group content is huge and I’m not currently aiming for that with my Cleric, although the class is in high demand. We’ll see how it goes once I can comfortably do CN two times per day and go from there.

See you next time!
