Neverwinter’s Halloween event Masquerade of Liars returned for the third time last weekend and came with a few tweaks that we’ve already outlined here. The design hasn’t changed however, you still chase around Protector’s Enclave, pick up Charms and trade them with Illusionist’s. This year players are able to get more Tokens and more charms, which is a great move because the event used to have a very tedious grind attached to it. The Piñata as additional source of Charms, getting 2 or 3 Tokens instead of the usual one from Illusionists and being able to trade the Charms for Tokens 1:1 at the event store should have enabled more players to get the stuff they want.
Like one of the better Fashion Heads in the Jack o’ Liar Mask and a very popular and rare Dye Pack that peaked around 20k during the year.
They’ve also basically added a free purple Artifact for Lowbies with the Illusionist’s Mask. Reading through the explanation I originally thought it might be a Gond-sized annoyance, but after three days of doing dailies and some extra trading circles I had enough Reagents and RP to fully refine and upgrade the Mask. The devs probably realized many players still have problems completing their Artifact slots and adding a filler is great. It perfectly serves its purpose, because it’s reasonable to get but offers no endgame viability since it’s capped at Rank 60.
While great for upcoming toons, the event does not offer a whole lot for seasoned players. The added item is completely useless for them and with the availability of more Tokens, the market crashed on event items and the overall resell values diminished. There’s really not a lot of incentive to run around PE in case you already completed the collection or simply own what you need.
Otherwise I liked this years version of the Masquerade. The scenery is well done as well and with more Tokens dropping, chasing around PE for a limited time is indeed a fun activity. You can easily finish with Fashion Masks, the Artifact and some Dye Packs, which is an appropriate amount of rewards for an event weekend.
