Mod 11: Full Buff Oathbound Paladin by Xselli

Hello everyone!

Today I’m going to present a write-up of my Oathbound Paladin buff build for NWO:Uncensored! The German might also refer to the build video on my YouTube channel. Have fun reading through this!

Race and Ability Scores

First of all the Oathbound Buff Paladin works best with the Dragonborn race. Unfortunately it’s exclusively available to purchasers of the Dragonborn Legend Pack or by buying the race separately, without the bonus package items.

  • Ability Scores: Grants you +2 to any two stats.
  • Dragonborn Fury: Your Power and Critical Strike are increased by 3%.
  • Draconic Heritage: You receive 5% more healing from all spells and abilities.

The main ability score you want to push is Constitution, where you should start wil a 17-18 roll to get to 30 at lvl 70, including. Your second priority should be Charisma and Wisdom where you should reach 22.

Feats

For this build we are going to take the Oath of Protection Paragon path.

In terms of the talents the Paladin almost never changes because the Justice Path with its cooldown reducing aspects is hands down the best you can pick.

Heroic Feats
Icons Feats Sovereignjustice.png 5/5 Divine Action: Activating Divine Call now generates 5% of your Max AP.
Faster AP is always good especially if you use the right insignia bonus.
Icons Powers Feat Enduring 02.png 3/3 Toughness: Increases your maximum Hit Points by 9%.
More Hit Points = more buff and you life longer.
Icons Powers Feat Proficiency 01.png 1/5 Light’s Shield: Your Damage Resistance is increased by 0.5%.
You always need more DR.
Icons Feats Battlefervor.png 3/3 Exemplar’s Haste: Your Encounter Powers recharge 6% faster.
Nothing is better than lower cooldowns.
Icons Feats Devastatingshroud.png 3/3 Wrathful Strikes: Your At Will powers deal 6% more damage.
Can’t hurt to make some damage on your own.
Icons Powers Feat Power 01.png 5/5 Steadfast: Each point of Constitution now grants an additional .5/1/1.5/2/2.5% Maximum Hit Points.
Like I said Hit Points = more buff.
Paragon Feats Justice
5/5 Swift Flash: When you are struck by a foe you have a chance to trigger a Flash, granting you increased movement speed of 30% for 4 seconds.
To go fast through dungeons this is very helpful.
5/5 Bound By Light: Your Control Strength is increased by 2/4/6/8/10%.
A good combo for Templar’s Wrath, one of our main Encounters.
5/5 Flash of Light: Your encounter powers have a 25% chance to reduce the Cooldown of your nearby allies’ encounter powers by 10%.
This is a must have because nearby allies can attack faster.
5/5 Radiant Champion: Your very presence inspires your allies. When you have at least 2 other allies within 30′ of you, all of you gain 25% more movement speed and 5% Cooldown Reduction.
Again much more speed for you and you allies + cooldown reduction.
5/5 Echoes of Light: Your At-Will powers have a 5% chance to trigger Echo on you. Echo makes your next encounter power instantly recharge all of your encounter powers.
Have I mentioned cooldown reduction yet?
1/1 Vengeful Judge: Your Divine Call now also applies “Judge” to yourself for 10 seconds. “Judge” increases your damage dealt by 35% as well as reducing the cooldown on your currently recharging powers by 35%. Your encounter powers have a chance to immediately grant you a charge of Divine Call.
Oh sweet cooldowns.
Paragon Feats Light
5/5 Gifts of Light: You heal for 10% more.
We have to take something.
Icons Feats Ancientwarding.png 5/5 Warrior’s Bastion: You gain 10% more Defense from equipment.
Icons Powers Feat Herbalism 02.png 5/5 Aura Gifts: Allies within 30′ of you gain 25% of your Power. And they must remain within 30′ of you for at least 6 seconds to gain this buff.
More power for everyone. Mandatory.

Powers

Class Features:

You will take Aura of Courage for extra damage and Aura of Wisdom to give cooldown reduction to you and your allies.

Daily:

Divine Judgement for a nice amount of damage. With Shield of Faith you can protect your group. You can also use good old Divine Protector, but for me the other options are better.

At-Will:

Use Radiant Strike as gap closer and Oath Strike to hold aggro.

Encounter:

Single Target: Binding Oath –  Templar’s Wrath – Bane
Multi Target: Binding Oath – Burning Light – Templar’s Wrath

Gear

Your gear should prioritize: Power -> Recovery (about 15,000) and Defense (80%) -> Deflect.

Four Weapon Enchantment are viable:

You have two choices of Armor Enchantments:

Companions

As active Companion:

  • Con Artist (nice 10% debuff that stacks, pretty standard pet these days)
  • Harper Bard (Protector’s Camaraderie doesn’t work, but the debuff/buff is still good)
  • Dancing Shield (20% debuff for the party, but mostly used by GFs)

As passive Companions:

Mounts and Insignia Bonuses

On the Insignia’s you should prioritize the same stats as mentioned above: Power, Recovery, Defense or Deflection.

The Harper Bard does not trigger Protector’s Camaraderie. This has been tested, and I believe this is working as intended as the bard does not attack. However Companion Gifts does work as this is when your companion uses a power.

I see one thing more over here overcapped dmg resistance for op with 220 k hp (like mine) about 75 max 80% is enaugh.
Second thing when you base on temp hp oppresors is totally ineffective (especialy when you have own healings from dailies and some campagin boons)

Don’t forget monster have armor penetration aswell, up to 15%, that’s why ppl stack over 80% (up to 95%) to get rid of monster’s arp.

If this is a full buff build, why no artifact that buffs damage for your group? Why stack so much Recovery any not more Power? Why stack so much Defense and Deflect and not more Life? Why not use Dancing Shield, Con Artist etc as active companion.? Why doesn’t this build use Deepknight’s Brigandine?

I use the Harper Bard which is also a good buff. Dancing Shield is used most times by GF so i don’t use it. In fight i can easily reach 100k power without buff. I don’t think i need more. Aura of Courage isn’t working with the hp of the tank at the moment. (It’s bugged) More Recovery = more daily and more Encounters so it will reduce cooldowns (5/5 Flash of Light: Your encounter powers have a 25% chance to reduce the Cooldown of your nearby allies’ encounter powers by 10%.) and Shepherd’s Devotion will trigger.

I just don’t see the need for Recovery on OP. You can reset your Encounters by yourself and most of the DC builds reduce them too. Also Artificer’s Persuasion gives you tons of Recovery for 15 seconds anyway. More HP is always good since you get more power that you share to your group and all companions through aura gift. I still don’t see the reason why your not using a debuff/buff artifact that benefits your group if this is indeed a FULL buff build.

Aura of courage is not bugged. It used to work with op’s hp but it has a problem: the dmg count as if it was done by OP, so devs changed it.

Shadowclad….stealth every 30 secounds if you deflect an attack. I dont think if this is really a good advice for a tank. Sury about that enchant?

TL;DR too short for a guide and misleading info on some places.
My rating 2/5. Seen far better.

Almost exactly the same as my build. It’s very good. The only thing I don’t use is Burning Light with groups. I don’t need to do any dps in dungeons. I usually have Bane slotted throughout the whole dungeon. In CN I like to use Vow of Enmity with Orcus because the more my allies hit him the more it builds aggro for me. And we all know if Orcus doesn’t turn around then it’s smooth sailing from there. I also use Barkshield at the moment for armor enchantment and the Lion companion as active. I do have the legendary Lion mount as well so buffing more damage with double lions as well as getting the 100% HP shield every 1 minute from the combat power is very helpful. I think it’s the best legendary mount for a pally at the moment. Oh and I do have the Legacy snail’s equip power

im reading this over and over again does not make sense. Okay sense you have no idea what a buffer op looks like look at my char when u can remember buffer DAMAGE base does not matter by HP hp only effects your self not your party… aura of couage matches there own hp not yours.. 2ed u dont need a lot of recovery 3rd u should need dr. in over all this is what u trying to do!

first binding oath is GREAT but it can be out damage
With a lot of crit and power u can out damage oath any day of the week… lets take my damage binding light does 30k-40k ticks where bind oath in the same time will only do what if u build hp 250k damage so binding light does last for 8 secs when full casted and 2 secs so u looking 10 secs to do what 300k or so damage and then again out shines binding oath… same with smite… what u should do is stack up as much power as u can power is great i have a base of close to 40k and tested it shared little over 10k power that means 25% more damage with.. plus i use lion mount and what not… now if im doing something wrong then why do people fight for me to join them 🙂

Being just a low level op who doesn’t have all your “toys ”
i hate to say this but instead of helping us, the little people, it honestly sounds like pure bragging. If I am mistaken i do admit it to all your readers. And of course to you.
