Neverwinter Community Mourns the Loss of Twitch Streamer KodeReader
It is with great sadness that we have to relay that Neverwinter Twitch streamer KodeReader has passed away on January 1st. The news started to spread yesterday and the community mourns the loss of a valuable member. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
We obviously didn’t know “Kode” in real life, but as an online member of the Neverwinter community he always was a cool dude with a great passion for the game. He played since 2013 and became one of the more recognizable faces on Twitch over the years. Streaming regularly he was able to build a small but loyal audience. In December his online time suddenly declined and on Discord Kode mentioned “health issues”, but that he’ll be “fine”. Unfortunately it’s now terribly evident that he apparently wasn’t able to overcome whatever he was dealing with.
Our blog is still on vacation anyway, but to honor KodeReader our social channels will go silent for 24 hours starting with this post. Additionally, we’ll mute the main #lounge channel on our Discord.
Kode, you will be missed! Thanks for providing entertainment and content for Neverwinter for so many years. May you be able to play the game the way YOU WANT wherever you are now. One last cheers for you lovingly stubborn Canadian!
RIP
Many community members, including CM Julia, expressed their condolences on various social channels. You can do so as well in the comments below or by joining Kode’s Discord.
Still on my sick-cation but woke up to hear that one of my community members passed away suddenly. Out of respect not mentioning names right now but I’m truly saddened by their passing. The Neverwinter community has lost a strong positive presence and I’m going to miss them.

Just got the news that @KodeReader passed away. He was there for me from the beginning of my @NeverwinterGame streaming career, and the conversations we had never failed to illicit some type of strong emotion (admittedly, sometimes it was rage ?) RIP Kode. You’ll be missed ?

Goodbye, old friend.
🙁
Goodfella.
I enjoyed his stream.
His KaliGold team-ups and banter were just hillarious.
Played with him on and off for 5 years.
Kode was an underrated/underappreciated advocate and ambasador for NW.
No one appreciated the beauty and fun of the “old dungeons” more then Kode.
RIP David. You will be missed.

The first member of your Mullet army will always remember you. Rest in peace my good friend.
Memory Eternal.
I have grouped with him on quite some times, he was a funny guy.
He was always around in PE, giving away decent items to those who need..
For that I will remembering him..
I only just heard about his passing by happening on the NW stream msg. Really sad news.
He was a generous guy and always helped out new players. A real character in the community, he will be sorely missed.
I always enjoyed his loathing of min/maxing and his sometimes hard to handle attitude. His taste in music was great as well.
I’m happy to have known him and run with him, for however brief a time it was.
Peace to you bro. May you be Wizarding it up in the afterlife somewhere.
