Neverwinter Community Watch

The Community Watch is a recurring format on the weekends that summarizes interesting stories, forum posts, links and news in the Neverwinterverse that are worth reporting, but don’t warrant a full own post.

Here’s what happened during the last week:

  • The dev blogs featured the campaign, Stronghold cost reductions and famous faces.
  • A picture of the new campaign window shows another entry called “Gamhall: Portobello’s Game”. Strumslinger said there is more information to come and it is rumored to be a permanent feature based on the very popular Respen’s Game.
  • PWE has settled Coalgate by compensating players with up to 10 Wards. Whether or not you think this is sufficient or fair, there is not likely to come more from PWE on the incident.
  • In the wake of this, PC players are already asking whether Coals might be disappearing from their Trade Bar Store as well. After all PWE stated they do not want the same items in both the TB and ZEN market, which is currently the case on PC.
  • With the Coalgate the DDoS returned on the weekend. Or maybe it just continued.
  • If you don’t believe people are actually throwing money at lockboxes to get specific rewards, here ya go. 200$ is not enough to beat RNG for a legendary reward. Try 2,000$.
  • Upper tier of PVP stepping in as moral authority? Good one!
  • A user noticed that not every stat combination of the new Adorable Companion gear is available on all possible item types. Bug or intentional?
  • Strumslinger educated us to which mobs the term ‘Lesser Demons’ applies.
  • The overall power creep has allowed players to equip their old 60 sets again. And it’s causing problems!
  • Looks like Gate Crashers might not make the top spot of a CtA ranking.
  • Yes, CC is kind of not existent in PVP right now.
  • The Xbox celebrates Underdark with several Green Owlbear giveaways: 1 2 3 4. You also want to monitor Twitch as the official streamers also hand them out.
  • Reddit user StPensive shared a typical support ticket with PWE. Hint: Not helping.
  • The Bank Glitch has been fixed with the Underdark Update on Xbox.

Upper tier of PVP stepping in as moral authority? Good one!

    hyp·o·crite
a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, especially a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.

Everybody who ever stepped a foot on Rivenscar Ruins or Hotenow Domination had a Drain or Ring slotted at least for one match. I’m not an exception myself.
People in that thread are no difference and they “embraced” it too. Just when a lot of guild have Rank 2 Overloads and you only have Rank 1 Overloads it becomes an issue.

Yes, CC is kind of not existent in PVP right now.

It is very well existant and it is the key to even clearing anybody. You do not need much CC with the amounts of damage everybody can deal, it is a question of using it correctly understanding your enemies class and their immunity and vunerability frames.
A wizard repeling a trickster rogue that uses his Impossible to Catch will have no effect.
If you Repel him at the end of his dodge roll in the right frame and cast Entangling and Ice Knife with it – a great combo comes down.

Yes a lot of CC effects turn into “interrupts”, but that is still good. PvP should stay minimalistic in damage and control effects to promote proper play. If you could control enemies for high durations, the overall skill level drops.

CC is to set up burst and for that it work perfectly fine and almost every class.

Control Wizards themselves make excellent support classes and their ability to Repel enemies allows to stall enemies from capping nodes and allows your team to get control of nodes. Which remember (!) is the actual goal of domination.
By themselves they are quite weak, they can hold themselves in certain 1v1 situations, but they are very vunerable in 2v1s, hence they are paired with a DC or OP. Not to forget they are one of the classes that can make use of all the annoying things like AP gain DCs, Drains and Ambush Ring very well.
