Neverwinter Introduces New Year “Lunar” Event with Module 15

Last week we asked you guys to vote on what seasonal / yearly events you’d like to see picked on by the game. That wasn’t completely random, because Neverwinter’s Module 15 “Heart of Fire” will actually see a new addition in that regard. “Lunar” will become the game’s “New Year” event. Since the Winter Festival used to run into the new year, it’ll be interesting to see whether both overlap or Lunar is just going to follow. Since some rewards and pictures hint at Lunar being inspired by / tied to Chinese New Year it could also run in late January / early February. The event calendar on preview doesn’t yet last until January 2019. So we’ll see about that in like a month.

No Event Specifics Yet

Also not known are event specifics, but since we’re talking about Neverwinter players are probably going to farm some type of currency for which they can buy the rewards. There’s definitely a ZEN token pack in the game files that offers additional currency for ZEN similar to Bounty of Simril or Bag of Lliira’s Favor. Speaking of rewards, there’s nothing in the collections yet, but we were able to dig up stuff anyway. Here’s what we have so far:

  • Event “Pet” emote
  • Lunar Boar Mount
  • Baby Boar Companion (cute!!!)
  • Yojimbo “Samurai” Companion
    • Increases deflect chance by 4%. Whenever you take damage, your damage dealt is increased by 4% and your deflect chance is reduced by 4% for 10 seconds.
  • Event Food

New Hair Styles

We’ve already hinted at the fact that the premium hair styles are not just a one-time thing for this module’s Founder’s Pack, but more something the devs experiment with on a wider scale. The Lunar event will also feature two new hair styles that we assume players can buy for event currency. It’s an Asian male and female hair skin pictured above.

In case you can’t see the picture with the hair styles, please try disabling any ad blocker. Some internal Neverwinter picture files are labeled “Smartads” and blocked by ad blockers due to their name.

The devs will surely preview this new event eventually when it’s close to its first run, but for now this is what we have to get you excited (or not). This by the way are not the only event changes that you are going to see in Module 15. So stay tuned for much more!

If they are bringing in some Kara-Tur aspects, there is a New Year’s festival and a Feast of Lanterns in the first month of the year. In the 8th month (Chuang, our August), there is a Moon Feast Festival.
