Neverwinter Veteran Mystik Goes on Twitter Rant About State of the Game

Looks like we’ve got another entry to the rant files! Yesterday Neverwinter veteran, Twitch streamer and Uncensored regular Mystik went on a lengthy twitter rant about the state of the game.

Here’s the video that Mystik is referring to:

Dungeons, Challenge and Grind

Both Mystik and Galactic Underwear lobby for more dungeon and high-end challenge. It’s a claim not uncommon in the endgame community. Kali Gold before quitting in March expressed the same sentiment over and over again on his stream, and still does after coming back. It’s probably something most veteran players would agree on.

That unfortunately still doesn’t mean it’s realistic. Operating on tight resources even a complete shift of focus towards dungeons might not result in multiple additions per mod. You can’t just do dungeons alone anyway. There’s gotta be at least some story around it, right? This debate also relates to something we wrote about a couple days ago. Neverwinter is a watered down MMO that caters to the mass market. It does not have a specific target audience. So if you’re a hardcore PVE, or hardcore anything, the game can certainly feel lacking.

Whether the game should focus on a specific area will probably remain an ongoing argument. But it’s good that players clearly voice their opinion about the situation and direction of the game. It’s something that can only help to fuel the discussion.

What’s your take on the argument? Does Neverwinter need more high-end content or is it just fine for the majority of the players? Share your thoughts in the comments below and visit the corresponding thread on our message board!

Well well…two more players asking for more difficulty. The moment of course dificulty arrives, thet will start complaining. It is the same again and again.in mod5 people were asking for more difficulty ,difficulty arrived, players couldn’t cope with it ,they left.
Same prior to release of FBI ,or mSP or whatever.
You want difficulty dudes? Are you masters?Stop running with 2 DCs 24/7 and you will see difficulty.

DCs and GWFs break the game. And to a lesser extend Prot OP.Fix these classes massive buffs, and you will see who is good and who is not. Then we will see if you can cope with the current dificulty, before asking for more.

just go on and nerf everything lol. then dungeons will eventually be harder. i’m not even kidding. everyone knows that buffs are watering down content. yet those endgame players are the ones who oppose any changes to their broken 4 support 1dps meta the most while whining about the lack of challenging content.

Hard to disagree with him nerfs are not the answer as we see with Chult increasing the RI cap from 60-85% was all that was needed. There are several dungeons they could bring back at a tougher level (a bit like what happened with Cragmire)

    Dude!

I love the game and have made awesome friends from the community. I have spent countless hours just talking shit and running dungeons with these people. I have spent more than 1k usd on my toon. But alas … Destiny 2 has released I’m on my 2nd char that is nearing 300 power. I haven’t played neverwinter since the release of destiny and am not sure if I want to go back to NW. The only thing that makes me log in are the people. Not the game anymore but the people and as they begin to show up less and less and quit the game I see no reason to return. These people are mid to high tier 15k~16k’s, hmmm I really don’t want to seem them go but alas if they should leave I’ll have nothing left to do but to Call it quits. Perfect! Please fix the game. More challenging content with that must have loot that makes you scream ohh shit!!!!! When it drops.

I agree that the game needs more challenges. Why can’t there be a difficulty sliding bar at the entrance of each dungeon? The higher the bar, the better the rewards. I’ve been trying to artificially create challenges for months, from naked dungeons, to small-team dungeons, 5 heroes vs 1 DF dragon, etc. But if the rewards don’t match the challenge, no one is interested. Which is not entirely the devs’ fault. Players’ obsession with loot loot loot is sometimes infuriating. Doesn’t anybody play just for fun anymore?

Did you actually watch the video? Galactic Underwear is a TR (not one of the classes that is on people’s PVE overpowered radar). He’s pointing out that he can solo most current dungeon content (solo …. as in without 2 DCs) and he is not alone (decent OPs can solo FBI and there are videos of duo runs of MSP with no DCs). He’s been around a long time and I have never heard him complain about things being too difficult. The video also highlights that he wants classes fixed and gives some pointers on how to do so. The people who couldn’t handle the difficulty after Mod5 left, so I’m not sure how relevant they are to the current discussion.

All content in the game can be done with little difficulty, even with no DCs, so long as the players know what they are doing and understand the mechanics of the fights. People prefer the 2 DC model because it avoids gambling with whether strangers know what they are doing. My fastest T9G runs have been without 2 DCs and I’m sure I’m not alone in that experience. I’ve completed T9G with no DCs to test out the viability of TempLock/DevoOP models and it was just slightly slower than a similar group with DCs. I’ve done T9G without any GWFs as other classes can do similar dps if specced/geared correctly. I’d personally like to see more difficulty because it would then help create something to aspire to overcome, which is more rewarding than doing the same content ad finitum. As is, players are developing self-imposed difficulty, by measuring the speed of runs, or reducing group size/soloing existing content. If players have to get creative to make difficulty, something is off in the game. Bored players tend to move on to something that imposes a challenge (maybe with the exception of trolls).

    galactic here.

What i am trying to do is finaly get them to realise we want the game to progress, progressing is a huge part of mmo’s, we enjoy watching our toons grow, and get awarded for doing things that take up our time, and some of us even spend or use money on this game.. i’m speaking of all classes, all players, endgame and new players.. regardless of the IL you are, this game needs major upgrades.. from balancing to drop rate to new and old dungeons, to difficulty, thats why i ask for tiered dungeons, that way all il levels can adjust and get the awards that they deserve according to where they are as a toon. nerfing si not the answer, nerfing just covers up existing mistakes. we need to get to the root of the problems and not use bandaids to stop the bleeding for a while.. in my opinion this game is worth fighting for.. i made newer video adressing these issues.. anyways god bless and let’s hope 🙂

    peace.
