New Mysterious Merchant Gear like Sandy’s Assault Pants off to a Stunning Start

As you should know by reading through our datamining posts, or by paying attention to hints in the official blog posts, Neverwinter’s Swords of Chult came with a few additions to the Mysterious Merchant in Strongholds. We’ve found two new ring icons and developer Chantelle Tatum announced that there are “more unique items available in certain traveling merchants’ stores”. Now that the first guilds followed up and build the merchants, Uncensored regular Lancer was kind enough to upload pictures of the new gear.

PVP Focus

Did you know that Uncensored runs the biggest Discord of Neverwinter? Come join our team, streamers and hundreds of players to talk the site and all facets of the game! The introduced gear has a clear PVP focus. It makes sense because the merchant hasn’t offered much in that regard so far, and Swords of Chult is partially a PVP update. Lord Roy’s Shirt has PVE viability however. Although a random stat enhancement isn’t really reliable, it’s not like other Pants have that super superior bonus. Additionally the “Ring of the Wily” doesn’t look too strong. Unless the damage bonus stacks for each activation of the utility power, you are probably able to generate more DPS by a two-slotted ring.

One item that quite literally is up to a stunning start though is Sandy’s Assault Pants. The daze ability procs without ICD and already wrecks havoc in PVP as shown in the video below. It’s especially annoying since Swords of Chult tackled too much CC in PVP with it’s new diminishing returns. So players were rightfully flabbergasted at the timing of this bug. And yes, it is a bug, there is no way the item is working as intended. This is reminiscent of what happened with the Ring of Cowardice +4 in Underdark. Back then the devs forgot to add an ICD to the ring, which led to an infamous “perma repel root“.

So let’s hope the devs take care of this one as soon as possible. They did .

The Mysterious Merchant is a temporary Stronghold structure. Either you guild or your alliance has to build one. The merchant then offers two random equipment pieces from its range of wares.

Don’t get fooled by the Chef’s Melvin ring, it hits for 5k … bad investment.

those rings could be half decent if they were at least double slotted. also adding that crap reduces the chance of getting the wolf guise or the executioner chest that everyone wants

Sandy Pants were significantly adjusted in today’s patch. We’ll have to see from the PVP community whether the adjustment is satisfactory (enough, but not too much).
