Perfect World Might Own a Gem in Subnautica

If you were surprised that Subnautica recently appeared on Arcgames, you are not alone. Few seem to have known that Perfect World is actually the majority holder of the game’s studio Unknown Worlds Entertainment, and hence also marketing the game on their own platform. More than that, PWE might actually have invested in a gem here after they recently decided to close down other less productive Western subsidiaries.

Strong Review, Large Twitch Audience

[su_quote url=”http://www.ign.com/articles/2018/01/26/subnautica-review”]Subnautica is a template for what open-world survival games should strive to be. It’s fantastical, fresh, and frightening from surface to seabed, with a story that kept on surprising me and a cast of sea monsters that quite literally haunted my dreams. Even with more than 50 hours sunk, I have yet to discover all of its secrets. It’s a testament to how enticing those secrets are that I’m willing to face my fears and plunge my submersible into the darkest corners of its unforgiving ocean again and again.[/su_quote]

The underwater survival game has received mostly positive reviews, and gathers thousands of viewers on Twitch. Survival titles usually are strong in the streaming scene, but considering that Perfect World lacked a decent presence on Twitch so far, it’s still worth noting. And as every big title, Subnautica already had a fair share of funny and controversial stories.

By the way: In case you’re scared about the monetization Perfect World usually uses (hint: all sorts of lootcrates), this one even seems to be buy-to-play. So if you like the genre, you might want to give Subnautica a look!

Even if you agree with what he said, was completely stupid to post it publicly. Dude got what he asked for (sort of).

Article said everything I need to know. PWE title. Nty pass. Really just waiting for Tera to drop on ps4 here. NW has run its course for me. I will never touch another PWE or Cryptic title. Sad really.

Where can I find the backstory to what you guys are talking about? I swore Id never play another PW game because of their horrible lootbox system… but if they don’t have it or jerkish rng achievements Id actually look into it.

You would need to do a little extra research, but it’s definitely not free-2-play (costs about 25$ on Steam and Arcgames) and none of the articles we’ve read says anything about lootboxes.
