Rainer Uncovers Cruel RNG of Creations of Wonder Packs!

The Wonders of Gond event comes to a conclusion on PC today and many players probably farmed those Creations of Wonder Pack hoping to find either a nice mount or even the Forgehammer of Gond. Believing YouTuber Rainer and his patented RNG tests, you shouldn’t have! Because the drop chances of the rare prizes is really, really, REALLY low. So without further ado, let’s take you to his video and then discuss the results.

“High Chance” at a Mount

We already joked about how the “high chance” stated in the tooltip might not actually be too high. But come on now. SIX choice packs out of 3588! And ZERO of the new ones? This has to be some cruel joke or a very bad outlier. You could probably even take the video and submit a bug report. I’m not sure this drop chance of the new Apparatus Mounts is intended for example. Anyway, best you can hope for according to the numbers is a bunch of Supplements (the Profession Pack) and Preservation Wards. The most likely “major prize” is the new Gond’s Anvil of Creation Artifact. Coalescent Wards? A distant dream! Forgehammer? Nowhere to be found! To put it mildly, this is a mess. One educated guess could be that some rewards are unintentionally unique and can not drop more than once. That’s hypothetical though. All I know is that the pack in its current form is hardly worth it.

Unfortunately the warning comes a little too late for this event. I certainly hope however that this will prevent players from expecting too much from the packs in the future. It seems to be a classic case why events in Neverwinter are so hard to fall in love with sometimes. It’s basically just farm currency x, get reward y from the shop. And then most of the time it’s gated behind substantial grind or, in this case, a reward pack that doesn’t hand out decent rewards. I have a greater piece about events and reward structure coming up, but this is obviously not ideal. Because players should get decent rewards out of their efforts in events. That’s why they are time-limited! If doing other stuff is more lucrative on the other hand, why bother at all?

Thanks Rainer for running the test and helping players make informed decisions!

Good to know. I’m on console.

I ignored the Halloween event because it looked like a waste of time, looks like I’ll be ignoring this one as well.

I think theres a problem on the code; I only opened 4 packs on the entire event and got a Mount. So it probably gives you 1 prize and lowers it after the initial bags. If you have any alts that need a good mount, then its worth to get a few bags IMO

I’ve mostly ignored it this year, just made 5 or 6 Hoodickeys from whatever dropped by playing.

The drop rate for Coal Wards is ONE HUNDRED TIMES LOWER than from Celestial Coffers from Invoking, which is about 3.0%.

So I need to trade these 6 Dickydoos for a crate that has a ZERO POINT ZERO THREE PERCENT CHANCE of dropping a Forgehammer?

Are they selling stuff on the Zen Market for this event? if so, calling ZERO and 0.17% a “high chance” for a mount is deliberate, criminal fraud.

    It is a scam.

Could this data be used to get them punitively fined?

    85%+ is a “high chance”.

I made about 80 doohickeys over the event, got 3 “basic” mount packs, 1 artifact, 2 coalescent wards, some GMOPs and about 70 pres wards. I did notice the quality drop and think the trigger is the vanity pet. As soon as I got that on an alt, the pack results got poorer. So I traded the bags between alts and swapped after the vanity pet. I do mastercrafting so I was actually really happy to get the professions supplements packs.
So I guess for the next one, prepare for Repetitive Strain Injury and swap the bags among alts if you have them.
Would love for there to be a mass-refine option on each of the stages.

Er, apparently I got really really lucky. I did probably 250 bags, um 2 forgehammers, 1 coal ward, 2 mount choice normal, 1 mount choice special. I guess I spent all my luck for this year.

I opened on 60 packs on two characters, and mount choice normal pack came at the first 10 openeing, and it never came after it. So it is possible that there are some character-based or inventory checks for it.
