Trickster Rogue: The Emperor’s New Clothes

In this final post of my Trickster Rogue PVE Guide we will go through gear, step for step. It is basically the same for all of the discussed builds. Weapons: Twisted Weapon Set Nothing much to say about it. In my opinion it has the best set bonus with almost 4,000 additional Power, which translates into a 10% damage bonus. But you will probably change this for the new weapon set that’s coming with “Sea of Moving Ice” anyway. Armor: Whatever feels right I personally use my armor as a filler. For example, if I lack Armor Penetration due to a certain build, I use a set with more of it. Also you are absolutely fine with a Dusk set. Maybe I lose a bit of overall power because I don’t use the set with the maximum stats and item level, but in terms of balancing your stats the armor pieces are that much easier to switch compared to Enchantments or Artifacts. Artifact Set: Demon Lord’s Immortality Best set for an Trickster Rogue, but you can also go with Lostmauth. The reason why the Demon Lord set is better is that you gain up to 20% damage bonus. Lostmauth however has a fixed amount

Executioner Trickster Rogue: Decapitation Time!

In this part of my Trickster Rogue guide (Part 1, 2, 3, 4). I will show you a picture of my feat tree and then explain what you should do and what you shouldn’t do. I will go ahead and explain which powers I use. The heroic feet tree part will always look the same regardless of your build by the way. The strongest DPS build for the Trickster Rogue is the Executioner You deal most of your damage in combination with “Shadowburn” (doubles the Power Rating when attacking from stealth) and “Back Alley Tactics” (grants +25% additional damage depending on how empty the Action Points are). If you are in a group of mobs the daily “Whirlwind of Blades” nicely multiplies with “Shadowburn” in case you hit 5 monsters. With the class feature “Invisible Infiltrator” you immediately gain full stealth and can follow up with “Dazing Strike” for a tremendous amount of AoE damage. What exactly happens? Let’s talk some numbers. Let’s assume we have 50,000 Power (which is totally possible for an endgame character with Bonding Runestones). Your power rating gets doubled if you attack with “Whirlwind Of Blades” and hit five monsters. So 100,000 Power. Now you re-stealth because of the class feature “Invisible Infiltrator”. Your follow-up “Dazing Strike” from stealth

Trickster Rogue: Getting Dizzy With the Scoundrel

In this part of my Trickster Rogue guide (Part 1, 2, 3). I will show you a picture of my feat tree and then explain what you should do and what you shouldn’t do. I will go ahead and explain which powers I use. The heroic feet tree part will always look the same regardless of your build by the way. What does the Scoundrel do? PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE! No joke, that’s basically its job. The build punches people openly in the face and stuns them. Many player gave up on this build because it seems not that great. One reason is PvP. In the past the devs changed Tenacity to grant way more control resistance. It means a build which is build around control is way less effective. For PvE it is still great! With this build your critical strikes and attacks from behind stun a monster for 2.5 seconds and you deal 25% additional damage on monsters under a control effect. You are very effective between boss fights because you offer additional control and gain the 25% damage bonus from all CC sources. A Control Wizard is in your group? Good for you! Stealth within this build should be mainly used to trigger stun effects of your encounters. The capstone of

Trickster Rogue: Do You Even Stealth?

In this part of my Trickster Rogue guide (Part 1 & 2). I will show you a picture of my feat tree and then explain what you should do and what you shouldn’t do. I will go ahead and explain which powers I use. The heroic feet tree part will always look the same regardless of your build by the way. What does the Saboteur do? The Saboteur gains a tremendous amount of buffs through his feats while in stealth. Sadly, most players think they should use “Gloaming Cut” as main At-Will, a huge mistake in my opinion. It doesn’t deal that much damage and it is also very slow. Stealth in general is only another resource on the Trickster Rogue that you should actively consume. Not only consume: BURN IT! As soon as your stealth meter is up again use all of it as fast as possible. The At-Wills of our choice are always Sly Flourish and Duelist’s Flurry and you always go after the target with the most Hit Points. We start the Duelist’s Flurry and after the first hit we go in stealth. If you have 10 stacks of Bleeding you change to Sly Flourish and only use Duelist’s Flurry occasionally

Trickster Rogue: On Which Path Should I Walk?

As Trickster Rogue we have two paths we can choose from. We can decide to be a Whisperknife (WK) or a Master Infiltrator (MI). Power choices MI offers us the At-Will “Gloaming Cut”, the Daily Encounter “Shocking Execution”, the encounter “Impossible To Catch” and the three class skills “Skillful Infiltrator”, “Invisible Infiltrator” and “Infiltrator’s Action”. WK meanwhile offers us the At-Will “Disheartening Strike”, the Daily Encounter “Hateful Knives”, the encounter “Vengeance’s Pursuit” and the three class skills “Razor Action”, “Advantageous Position” and “Dagger Threat”. Both additional At-Wills are not that great in relation to our two other At-Wills: Sly Flourish and Duelist’s Flurry. Same goes for the Daily Powers but especially for “Hateful Knives”, which can be considered utterly useless in PvE. It can only prone one target and then grant Combat Advantage for us and our group for a few seconds. If it hits an enemy that is immune to be prone one of its major effects doesn’t affect it and because we are in a group we get combat advantage from others sources most of the time anyway. But “Shocking Execution” is mainly a PvP as well and not that good in PvE. Class features favor the Master Infiltrator Class Features are also important and

The Trickster Rogue: A Shallow PvE Guide

I play as a Trickster Rogue since the open beta of Neverwinter. He is one of a few PvE rogues, because Trickster Rogues are often viewed as a PvP class. A mistake I would say because the TR is a good addition to a group to run dungeons and/or skirmishes. The role of a TR We first start off with the general role of an Trickster Rogue in a group. Then we go to the different paths and possible builds. The Trickster Rogue is a DPS-class in Neverwinter, but it offers good utility in form of CC that is usually underrated. New groups often have the problem that they can’t endure much incoming damage until the tank gets all the attention or some abilities are active to prevent incoming damage. The Trickster Rogue has a higher walking speed, can run in front of the group, go into stealth and uses “Smoke Bomb” to stun a monster group for a few seconds until the tank can take over. What also a lot of groups tend to forget is: Who does resurrect a character if they are lying on the ground? A lot of groups think it’s the job of the healer or tank to resurrect, which
