Thanks StrumSlinger!

Community Manager Andy “StrumSlinger” Wong announced he’ll be switching into another role at PWE and taking a beackseat in terms of Neverwinter. He’ll be working Gigantic, an upcoming MOBA, and future projects.

[su_quote cite=”strumslinger”]As for what I’ll be doing, I’m focusing on Gigantic and future projects at PWE, which I’m super excited about! So technically, I’ll still be here.[/su_quote]

A look back

StrumSlingerAndy had been a QA team member before stepping up as Community Manager to fill in for Akromatik in April 2015. He probably was the most active CM on the forum to date and had to moderate difficult announcements like the shutdown of the Foundry, Gateway or the most recent Keygate. During his tenure a focal points was to interact with the community in events and livestreams. Although clearly on a heavy workload, he was a very reachable person and tried to forward stuff to the devs as much as he could. Additionally he founded a private bug hunting group. Dedicated members could communicate, report and hunt down bugs in a private area of the forum. The success of that group has been questioned by former members though.

A look ahead

Out with the old, in with the new! Julia (@nitocris83) will take over in what seems to be a larger change at PWE and Cryptic. With Andy also the Community Manager of Star Trek Online will shift into a bigger role and hand over duties there. Since pwlaughingtrendy is referring to their new CM as a “he” and our Julia is clearly a “she” it seems both games could get a new full-time CM at Cryptic HQ. This would be a nice upgrade because Strum was working plenty of games and tasks.

A lot of speculation is involved here, but hopefully it means that the level of communication and involvement will rise even more. Per nature of our site we of course would also welcome a more open-minded and less restrictive discussion on Arcgames, but that’s unlikely.

We’ll see what the future holds, but for now we’d like to thank Andy for his time as Community Manager! All the best and much success with Gigantic and other future projects!

Yes so reachable, that he was always on vacation when a major nerf was announced. OFC, that was probably the way that PWE wanted it to happen so that there was no one to answer to the community when a nerf happened. I expect the trend of ineffectual CMs to continue. as a requirement of working for PWE/Cryptic.

Not sure there is anything to thank him for imho, he did the job he was paid for and on the major issues we needed serious help with was not able to do anything for the community. I for one wont miss him or see any loss from his departure.
