Unblogged Wisdom Checks: Do You like the New Lockbox Structure?

Console players often complain that they get new content much later than their PC peers. That’s correct, although this time one particular new system of Module 15 also made it to the Xbox and PS4. We’re talking about the new lockbox structure of course. The devs didn’t want a situation in which console players anticipating the change would be hesitant to buy new keys until Heart of Fire launches on their platforms. So all players actually get the benefits of new lockboxes. Or wait, are there even benefits or are you not as sold on the new design? While the new structure is a little more transparent, no drops are affected by x2 events any longer. On the one hand the perception of “missing out” shouldn’t happen as often, on the other hand however there are still “blanks” in terms of generated value.

So we’d like to pass this question to our audience for this week’s poll! Do you like the new lockbox structure?

Since you can’t benefit from 2X Refinement, it feels like a big downgrade. … on the other hand, all these old lockboxes I thought were worthless now have some value as you can still get old packs that DO benefit from 2X refinement.

I’m also thinking old packs will sell on AH for a better rate now that everyone’s opening the new lockboxes.

So far my observation is the the good items from the new lockboxs quickly devalue as the AH fills up with excess quantity. There’s no reason for players to wait to open them, so the AH is flooded with new items all at once.

2xRefinement loss sounds big, but then again if the RP generated in game is reduced, the increased demand for RP could make it a wash in terms of AD. Only time will tell though. Since professions should generate less rp now and they fixed siege we could anticipate an increased demand for PR, on the flip side it does appear RP drops more often in game.

Pro tip for those that aren’t aware. This new system is painfully SLOW. double click on the lockboxes instead of opening through the new UI to speed it up.

Sorry, what are the advantages of the new lockboxes again? They don’t have Adventurer’s Packs? Anyway, I have not bought keys since mod 3, so I just save up my VIP keys.

I did notice, though, with my two new toons chasing the Runic Bags (I know, Total Altoholic), that they have put RP BACK into professions kits and tertiary chests.

They took them out “because of bots”. Now they have put them back in, at the same time as creating a huge demand for Gold Sellers.

There are a lot of inactive chests, though, labelled as “Mimic”, with which we cannot interact. Like we cannot talk to the Artifact Enthusiast for “Two Weapons are Better than One”, so she cannot give us our free emerald.

Oh, by the way, do you have a guide to Mod 15 and how to get the additional Lord’s “Incentives” for the BtA Runic Bag? We get 55 just for leveling up, so need to get 45 from that daft, cartoony quest line.

    Cheers!

With the removal of the Darknight Stronghold boxes there are now no Stronghold Vouchers entering the market and the prices on Xbox have just gone through the roof.

This is a huge negative for all smallish guilds working their way up and needing campaign currency without the time to grind the four areas for currency to generate the vouchers.

The developers need to put something back to the box to help strongholds or reduce the cost of campaign currency for builds, look at PVP shards, they were removed completely and the structures were adjusted accordingly.

If they just add an additional…….

    “And one of the following”

sections to the listing which includes one or two purple vouchers, guilds benefit from the AH having a stable supply and people benefit from a guaranteed sale in the AH.
