Unblogged Wisdom Checks: Is the New Epic Insignia Pack Worth Its Price Tag?

Last week Neverwinter did what a free-2-play title usually does: Add new toys to its cash store. This time it’s an Epic Insignia Pack that not only supplies all of the old Insignias, but also introduces a fresh set of new (and improved) ones. All of them are not actually better in terms of item level, but since they pair two useful stats, most players probably will see them as upgrade over existing choices. A Barbed Insignia of Brutality for example could replace a Barbed Insignia of Dominance and essentially generate 100 extra Recovery, because “Companion Influence” is pretty much a waste.

So it seems like switching to the new Insignia types is definitely worth it. The Epic Insignia Pack however as always gates stuff behind RNG. Players are guaranteed at least one epic Insignia, but that doesn’t have to be a new type. And while the pack also drops at least one of the new Insignias, the best epic versions are pretty rare. That’s why we’d like to know from the community whether 500 ZEN is a fair price to roll the dice? Is it worth buying the new packs in bulk or would you rather claim what you want from the Auction House?

Of course 500 Zen is overpriced, like everything else. That’s $5.00 or so, and for what? Garbage RNG crap you cannot even sell in order to recoup your costs. That’s also 250,000 AD, or 2.5 days’ max refining.

So 5000 Zen for ten. 2.5 million AD, or 25 days’ max refining.

50 Zen, and MAYBE I would buy some. Make the damn micro-Transactions actually MICRO for a change.

Remember when a lock box key was guaranteed to pay for itself? When was that? Some time in mod 2 or 3, before the Astral Diamond Resonator hack went public and was FINALLY fixed, because they could no longer pretend that it had not been reported? When Zen was about 260 AD instead of being maxed at 500?

If you get the top tier prizes every time, it might be worth it, But the RNG makes them actually worthless gambling. As soon as they are banned, lower prices and published drop rates are REQUIRED by law and NO shitty drops allowed, the better.

The new refining Packs that FINALLY replaced those retardedly, dishonestly priced Blood Ruby packs are another. What do you have to get from those in order to be worth the Zen/AD price?

    😡
