Uncensored Toolbase Switches to Crowdsourcing

On Monday our Toolbase was updated to version 1.0.8, which mainly introduced a solution to the void the shutdown of the Gateway had left in our Auction House Data. All tools and pages attached to the Auction House data are no longer publicly accessible. Instead users have to manually contribute to the data pool to be able to view the data. We hope that we can keep our tools usable for interested players. The accuracy of the data cannot be compared to our automated engine of course, which crawled through more than 2,500 items in less than 15 minutes.

This essentially means the community has to decide about the future of the tools attached to the data. We will monitor the input and see whether it makes sense to develop more tools in that area. We have a few ideas like a Stronghold donation / Guild Mark calculator, but it really only makes sense to invest time with semi-accurate numbers. More than ever you as community are required to spread the word and bring others in. The more contributors, the more reliable the data becomes. On the bright side this enables us to finally present the Auction House Tools to the Russian, Xbox and PS4 community. We are currently only supporting the international server to see whether the system is running as intended, but plan to unlock more servers on the fly.

This does not mean we’ll stop searching for ways to get an automated engine running again. One way we know would definitely work requires running the game client 24/7 and we do not have the hardware or server for that. This is at least nothing we can do short-term, so the manual engine currently is our best shot.

Our next focal point will be bringing the item database up to speed. With 1.0.8 we included admin functions to manually add items, we are however still figuring out the easiest way to fetch tooltips for a given item from the game. You shouldn’t expect Sea of Moving Ice items to be added this week, but we’re close.

Thanks for supporting the site fellas and we sure hope you stay with the #1 independent source of all thinks Neverwinter! If you have any suggestions or thoughts make sure to add them in the comments below or visit the corresponding thread on our message board!

Even attempting this kind of a substitute = major kudos to you and this site. Playing the AH market remains one of the funnest parts of this game to me and I look forward to contributing to this new tool (and in a small way, to this site).

    Thanks!

Have you considered using autoit or testcomplete to pull the same data from the game?
