Uncensored/Unblogged Holiday Closure! Have a Great Time and See You in 2019!

Neverwinter Uncensored wraps up 2018 a week early as the site will go into a holiday closure starting tomorrow. There will be no blog posts in the next two weeks and we’ll be back with our Community Watch on January 6th! Please also note that we might be slower to react to PMs or E-Mails and such. You’ll probably find us on the Discord however in case something urgent comes up.

Usually with Christmas being right around the corner, there’s simply not a lot to talk about anyway. Cryptic and PWE will close offices, and we’ll hope you’ll have a great time with family and friends as well. But we’ll be back early enough to guide all you console folks into Module 15 and then see what 2019 has in store for the site and the game!

Uncensored in 2018

Christmas

Talking about the site, we once more had a blast running Uncensored in 2018! Compared to 2017 we were able to boost our user numbers by +17% and stats suggest that we are serving over 100,000 Neverwinter players per month. We continued to be the most comprehensive, independent, and reliable source of information for the game! This is truly amazing and definitely not something we envisioned when we founded the site four years ago. So thanks to all you loyal readers for stopping by, posting comments, giving feedback, pointing to mistakes, and spreading the word.

Despite that success, we also know not everything was ideal. I personally for example would have loved to extend and maintain our Toolbase far more than I was able to. Especially in the second half of the year there was only so much time to actually work the code due to some significant changes in my personal work life. Currently I’ve still not managed to complete the changes for M15, resulting in PC players not able to use most of the tools right now. The current situation s annoying, and definitely not something I’m satisfied with. I’ve not yet made up my mind what the best approach is, but I’ll as always lay out the plans for the site in a future post.

The Great Community Divide

2018 also was a disappointing year in terms of uniting the community. We tried to settle our differences with the official community team more than once, but under current Community Manager Julia there seems to be no genuine interest to really take steps towards a better situation for everyone. That unfortunately also means the game is unable to maximize the potential of its community. We’ve tried, failed, and quite frankly no longer care at this moment. If you don’t know what this is all about, you can go read this piece in case you’re really interested. Otherwise I don’t want to bore you with our own version of internet drama.

Not right now anyway, because we want to head into the holidays on a high note. Running the site in 2018 was a pleasure! Thanks for all the fun and let’s keep it up in 2019! Cheers!

Frankly I think it is better not to be united with the official blogs and such. It allows brutal honesty and a place for fans to vent when needed.
