Upcoming Neverwinter Gear Preview Feature A Solid QoL Improvement

When I first read about Underdark , the Neverwinter Gear Preview Feature stood out from the list because it’s one of those quality of life improvements we hardly see in Neverwinter, cause Cryptic is forced to prioritize new content. Now that the devs have blogged about it, I’m even more certain it’s something the community will fall in love with rather quickly.

Player might have hoped for a wardrobe-type system in the fashion area of the game since it’s appealing to collect transmutes and gear in a wardrobe collection or whatever and be able to switch your outfit at will. But that would work against transmuting costs, so my guess is they wanted to create a system that ideally encourages players to transmute.

From the preview pictures the UI is handled really well. You could think about a few improvements like a live search for any available item or the ability to equip full sets by a single click, but to preview items from the tooltip is good and intuitive as well. It looks like you’ll be able to rotate your character at will and can change animation, which is absolutely great and needed for all classes with Off-Hands that show. Not sure how many shields (and AD) I burned to get a feel for a transmute on my Guardian Fighter back in the days…

There are just two flaws I see: The preview UI should absolutely include dyes somehow and transmuting costs should be toned down significantly to complement the feature. Otherwise it’s a fun and useful tool for all parties involved. We can play around with our appearance and PWE will hope players burn a few more ADs and ZEN in the process.

These are exactly the type of changes I’d like to see more going forward, at least one per Module. The game needs revamp and enhancement over addition in so many areas, so this gets a well done!
