Wonders of Gond Event Guide

The Wonders of Gond is a special refining event that usually runs multiple times per year over the weekend (Thursdays through Mondays). Gond, the Lord of All Smiths, has identified Neverwinter as requiring some encouragement and observation. That’s why he challenges adventurers to refine small Grommets into a mighty Doohickey, which they may use against their foes, or exchange for a chance at some rare rewards. In this guide, we walk you through all aspects of the event!

The Upgrade Process

The general setup of the event is pretty easy. Starting with little level 1 Grommets that drop from mobs during the event days, players have to refine their way up to level 7. The required refining points are negligible as you shouldn’t need more than 1,000 per Doohickey. So even if you aim to get a lot of them, you shouldn’t run into any trouble. The “Wondrous” event refinement items even hand out some minor RP themselves in case you really need them. The upgrade process works as follows:

Some Math

Although the percentages and additional reagents make the process a little nontransparent, the amount of Grommets you need to get one Doohickey is reasonable. Even without spending any Wards you shouldn’t need more than 225. Depending on the prices on the Auction House however it might make sense to start using Preservation Wards as early as the upgrade to the Wondrous Gizmo, which would lower the amount of average Grommets to 157. This means multiple Doohickeys are absolutely obtainable even without spending extra AD or ZEN. This hasn’t been the case in earlier editions of the event, where upgrading to Doohickeys was a massive pain. The devs used the new refining system however to adjusted the event in the right way.

Getting Grommets

[sc name=”discord”]

Ok so now that you know how to upgrade Grommets, where do you get them? As said it’s as easy as slaying mobs in any content, but farming isn’t really viable that way. If you’re doing dailies anyway, fine, grab the Grommets that drop. But you’ll do much better using professions, which not only land you substantially more Grommets, but also higher level assets. During the event, all professions have a special rank 30 task to create Wondrous items. The normal result is a Wondrous Sprocket, the “high-quality” one adds much more event refinement. Each task has a base duration of 2 hours, and has a small chance to award an Ancient Curio as well.

The task has the same material requirements across all professions. The good news is that all of them can be acquired for Gold at the basic profession vendor. The bad news? A Focus requirenment of 1,000 means you need a very good Artisan and Tool to be able to consistently hit the lucrative high-quality result. Even if that’s not the case, I’d still advise you to run the tasks on all available alts if you have the resources or enough Gold to buy them. That way it’s really easy to get enough event refinement to assemble multiple Doohickeys. During the event days I would simply spend your morale to mass-creating the refinement and then continue with whatever you were crafting before that.

The Rewards

Since most of the rewards in the event store are relatively easy to get, you’ll be mostly aiming for the Creations of Wonder Pack that is available for a Doohickey. Opening them for a chance for Gond Mounts, the Forgehammer or Wards is indeed pretty compelling, just don’t expect that the devs share your feeling of what a “high chance” for one of the Apparatus should be. Other than that, you really can’t do wrong here and most likely will walk away with useful stuff.

Other ways of profiting from the event is selling the refining items. Starting with Wondrous Gadgets they sell for a decent price on the Auction House and you might very well just run the profession tasks and turn what you get into AD. A third option is to supply the required resources for the profession tasks. The ingredients spike during the event, because folks need lots and lots to run the Gond tasks.

Conclusion

Whatever you choose to do, the Wonders of Gond should be a pretty decent event to profit from. Just run the profession tasks, sell the items or refine your way up to the Doohickey and buy the Creations of Wonder Pack. Even though the “high” chance to get a Mount isn’t really that high, you should be able to walk away with one of the two Apparatus and some extra change. Even the worse rewards like Profession Packs or Insignias shouldn’t be discounted. Overall the Creations of Wonder Pack contains very little blanks.

Nice article. Shame it was not available before the event! LOL! In past years, it was almost mathematically impossible to make a Doohickey in the time, even with multiple Professions tasks running on 15 Alts. And the reagents required were pretty stiff, and rarely did I get a Tier III, even with 4 purple tools.

But they seem to have overhauled it. I have a Doohickey from Winter Festival, but I’m not trading it for a box that will give me a Wondrous Gizmo, a green Mount Insignia and 5 BoP Pres Wards. 🙂

THIS is what Germany means about Gambling. You risk a Doohickey to get something vastly worse! Gambling is much more socially acceptable in China, which is where PWE is based. But they do not seem to have the same social stigma or problem gambling we have in the West. It’s just for fun.

I DO want that Forgehammer for my Grandmaster Crafter DO, though…

    Maybe next time?

    Cheers!

Over 200 bags opened, no forgehammer, 1 apparatus and 1 coal ward.
Cryptic and PWE can go and collectively fuck themselves, i hope the new videogame gambling laws also gonna catch up to free to get scammed games in the future and these shitlords gonna get fucked a little bit at least.

Does anyone remember the Morale cost of the Sprocket task? Trying to get prepared for the next time around, but can’t find that info anywhere.
