Workshop Artisan Guide for Module 15 [UPDATED]

After previewing Rainer’s Workshop sheet earlier today, let’s put the info to use right away, shall we? In this article I’d like to discuss the best options of Artisans you have for different purposes. Granted, I trust you to be smart enough to figure it out yourself with the help of the sheet. But it can’t hurt to dish out some guidance nonetheless, especially since I had to double and triple check myself. It’s simply a lot of Artisans!

How to Get the Artisans You Want

Before we get to the best Artisans let’s talk about how you get the ones you want. Remember that all of them are unique and cannot apply to your Workshop if they are already employed. So if you focus on getting specific Artisans for a single profession it might make sense to accept applications of unwanted ones to enhance chances of getting the ones you’re aiming for. Otherwise you might decline the same applications over and over again.

Masterwork Artisans

With that being said, let’s get to our Artisan toplist! First and foremost, let’s look at Mastercrafting. For all those tasks you ideally want Artisans that feature as much Focus and Proficiency as possible. The best skill (previewed here) then depends on the type of task you’re running. “Dab Hand” only works on material-producing ones and does not hand out twice as much gear and such. So it’s a great skill to have while leveling up and also supplying mats, but not for end-products. There “Recycle” makes most sense to keep resources in case of a failure (you won’t likely hit 100% Proficiency on most high-end tasks).

You can also try to get the skills from Supplements and then roll with “Virtuoso”, but that’s a lot more expensive. So I would generally use Supplements as you get them and not make them a fixed part of what you’re trying to do. Here are my favorite ones:

[su_table]

Name Profession Focus Proficiency Skill
Tuala Uwoke Jewelcrafting 385 385 Dab Hand (20%)
Charlette Favri Jewelcrafting 370 400 Recycle (25%)
Adloquium Alchemy 375 360 Dab Hand (20%)
Efla Parkatha Alchemy 395 395 Virtuoso (25%)
Minda Breskhild Alchemy 400 350 Recycle (25%)
Beatrice Alchemy 345 400 Recycle (25%)
Tomaso Missaglias Armorsmithing 345 400 Dab Hand (25%)
Elsbeth Missaglias Armorsmithing 385 400 Recycle (25%)
Dain Hephdal Armorsmithing 400 380 Recycle (20%)
Stella Everstream Artificing 360 400 Recycle (25%)
Gunter Morthrad Artificing 370 400 Dab Hand (20%)
Zinaida Blacksmithing 400 400 Dab Hand (20%)
Tokuro Osafune Blacksmithing 360 400 Recycle (25%)
Lond Dawnwhisper Leatherworking 380 380 Dab Hand (25%)
Sandurai Astemmdal Leatherworking 400 320 Recycle (25%)
Yeul Gustaverg Tailoring 390 370 Dab Hand (25%)
Teclel Jondrathal Tailoring 400 400 Recycle (25%)

[/su_table]

As you can see, there’s no clear #1 for some professions. It’s especially difficult for Alchemy, in which you have to choose between “Dab Hand” or better Focus/Proficiency values. It’s kind of the same for Armorsmithing where the best Focus values come with the “Recycle” skill only. The other professions all have a pretty distinct favorites that feature most of what we need.

Low Commission Artisans

Artisans that reduce Commission are great to produce Armor Kits or farm Gold. Ideally those come with “Passion Project”. I’d definitely set up some alt characters with low commission Artisans to supply my account. For Gold farming (Guide: Best Gold-Producing Tasks in Workshops) on alts you could also talk “Miracle Worker” that helps you get more out of your daily Morale batch completions.

[su_table]

Name Profession Commission Skill
Aiha Amaphilel Jewelcrafting -75% Miracle Worker (20%)
Haie Xilomne Jewelcrafting -75% Passion Project (20%)
Adloquium Alchemy -75% Dab Hand (20%)
Yungric Alchemy 0% Miracle Worker (25%)
Bitrid Brasshammer Armorsmithing -75% Recycle (25%)
Brodun Comawn Artificing -50% Dab Hand (10%)
Donnen Millkeep Blacksmithing -75% Recycle (15%)
Brokkah Leatherworking -75% Miracle Worker (15%)
Fen Winterfield Leatherworking -50% Miracle Worker (20%)
Treylo Grassmantle Tailoring -75% Passion Project (10%)
Leyrah Olme Tailoring -25% Miracle Worker (20%)

[/su_table]

Only two professions have the perfect match of -75% Commission and the Passion Project skill. But since we look for the most reduction of Commission first, the skill is a clear second criterion in choosing the Artisan. Below is a chart visualizing the simple math behind Commission reduction vs. Passion Project. As you can see, moving down a tier in Commission reduction is always worse even if the Artisan you’re aiming for has a max 25% Passion Project skill. Any Artisan with -75% Commission for example is better than any lower Commission / Passion Project combination. Additionally not all Professions feature a good Miracle Worker. That might be a factor when choosing what tasks to run for Gold farming purposes.

Gathering

Gathering Artisans are a little bit different because it makes sense to have more than one (to run multiple tasks simultaneously). Just like the Masterwork / production ones, we look for decent values of Focus and Proficiency here, but speed is important as well (we at least want no additional penalty). As skills “Dab Hand”, “Miracle Worker”, and “Passion Project” make sense. You can probably make a case for Commission being important as well. But I personally much rather farm Gold on other toons than try to achieve everything on one. The system is build to split duties within your account.

[su_table]

Name Focus Proficiency Speed Skill
Trys Kiirendal 360 395 +50% Passion Project (25%)
Evelyn Nara 325 400 +200% Miracle Worker (25%)
Murchadh Ossian 370 370 +25% Dab Hand (10%)
Krunng Sweetwater 400 380 +0% Dab Hand (20%)

[/su_table]

Krunng Sweetwater probably doesn’t actually have a Proficiency literally 10x as high as anyone else, does he?

Also, are all of these artisans Purple?

Typo! Will make sure to edit in the qualities in the next hour or so. Healthy mix of commons, rares, and purples.

So, uh, now you’ve got 2/3 of the names in white text on white-or-grey backgrounds.

Thanks for pointing that out. We had a styling issue, but the names should now be readable again. Cheers!

Hi! Thanks for the information! Very usefull, indeed 🙂 Just wondering, how are rare and epic artisians obtained?

Rare and Epic artisans can be obtained by:

      1) Zen market purchases
      2) Trading pre-mod-15 Professions Slot unlocks
      3) having a rank 3 (rare only) or 4 (rare and epic) workshop and getting them as applicants to your workshop.

You published a list of all the special skills somewhere (Dab Hand etc) and I can’t seem to find it now.

    🙁

It should be added to this guide that hitting Workshop level 3 will result in slowly gaining Blue artisan applications. Some of them are really very excellent. It makes unlocking W3 all the better so you can get more slots and more artisans and better artisans. W4 unlocks purples, but that’s a harder thing to do.

Oh, excellent, alphastream, I was wondering if a few extra Delivery Box slots was all we got!

One normal applicant I got was a Tailor:
      Lazzag Z’Rozze, Common, -25%/+75%, 345/345, Virtuoso 10%

Then I traded in some Stars and got some decent blue ones:

      Tailor
Treylo Grassmantle, Rare, -75%/+0%, 355/365, Passion Project 10%

      Adventurer
      Xerazze D’Zzen, Rare, -25%/+75% 360/340 Virtuoso 25%
      Dorrak, Rare, -25%/+0% 385/340 Virtuoso 15%

I think I was really lucky with those. So I have two cheap and fairly fast Gatherers harvesting Shimmerweed and a pair of fast and cheap Tailors making Shimmerweave thread, which my Jewelcrafter will need for things like Pendants, Amulets etc that trade for 3500 South Sea Credits.

Not quite sure how I will do it yet, I am sort of practicing on Alts, but I think I’ll have one Grandmaster for each craft and a bunch of Gatherers supplying them, and the Grandmasters will make stuff for each other.

If they lack Proficiency or Focus, my Grandmaster Alchemist can make some special supplements for them.

It’s a bit of a Swizz, though, that characters with 9 slots unlocked in ALL Professions get the same number of Stars for Instant Applications as characters with 9 slots opened in a single Profession..

      🙂

And GOD how I wish professions stuff could go in the bank, rather than only the mail!

      😉

      @disgruntled
Several times I have had a better adventurer at the front of the queue in my office, kicked a crap one, and found THE SAME ONE I JUST KICKED has barged his way to the front of the queue!

Support are very sorry for the inconvenience, and I should file a bug report and go to the official forum!

Might need to double check the proficiency and focus on the list. I was comparing artisans in the list with what i have and found that they have opposite stats to what’s listed. For example, my Tokuro Osafune (Blacksmith) has +360 Proficiency and +400 Focus, your list shows 360 focus and 400 proficiency. They are also opposite to my Elsbeth Missaglias. Platform is Xbox1

How do you level the gathering please

      Steve,

You have to Gather. It’s the only way, unless you spend Zen to Rush a Profession to 70. Not sure if you can even do that with Gathering.

Start them off doing tasks to Gather things, preferably with Adventurers who have a decent Commission reduction and Speed bonus. So this means NOT Epic Adventurers.

You need to get them to gather stuff with the best tools they can use, starting with Worn, and progressing through the tool quality. Try and get them to do the highest task they can with a reasonable chance to succeed and at the lowest cost in gold.

The best tools are probably Pickaxe for ores and stones and Scythe for various plants. Bucket is used for a few things, Crossbow is for hunting for hides, bones and skins etc.

We cannot use Morale to rush Gathering, so the only way to improve things further is by using Training Manuals, but only at higher level task, to speed them up from, say, 60 to 70. Or, as I say, spend a silly amount of Zen to speed rush it instantly.

The best Adventurers for general Gathering are:

      Common
      Elend Legrande
      360/345, -25%/+00%, Passion Project 10%

      Nadia Evendown
      360/345, -25%/-25%, Passion Project 15%

      Rona Farhill
      345/345, +00%/+75%, Miracle Worker 15

      Brenton Silverwood
      390/330, +00%/+00%, Miracle Worker 10%

      Rare
Xerazze D’Zzen (the best one of all for Speed and Commission)
      360/340, -25%/+75%, Virtuoso 25%

      Dorrak
      385/340, -25%/+00%, Virtuoso 15%

      Heyra Keeneye
      390/350, +00%/+00%, Virtuoso 05%

      Feira Halindeyl
      340/395, +00%/-50%, Passion Project 20%

Stats are Prof/Focus, Commission/Speed, Special Skill

      🙂
