Bag of Tricks Vol. 106: Tbotr Professions Info Page

Bog of Tricks Logo Welcome to the latest installment of our Bag of Tricks! On some days you will find useful tricks, gimmicks and ideas here that can make life in Neverwinter Online easier. Some of the stuff should be well known, but since even veterans learn something new every now and then, chance is you can, too.

In today’s episode of our Bag of Tricks, we’d like to highlight an external resource that could prove useful for all your Workshop needs. We already featured Rainer’s Workshop sheet (which recently got updated to version 3.1 by the way), but want to point you towards another great resource website.

Tbotr.net has set up a hub with information about the Module 15 Workshop system. So far it features general information, some tips, and a list of all available Artisans. Looking at the menu however it seems like the guys over there aim to add Tools and the South Sea Trader to the page as well. So definitely give them a visit and bookmark the resource for future use!

I notice that the Wiki has been updated a little as well and I’ve been making spreadsheets of materials sold by Professions Vendors and the Retainer and South Sea Commissions given by Marielle Begum, as many of them change on a daily basis. I’ve not worked out the full cycle yet. The relative costs are way out of whack, but there are still some reasonably efficient ways to get to Rank 3.

Rank 3 is really easy if you have older materials. Convert them to Beeswax and trade that in. Otherwise, you must crunch the numbers and craft away.

Rank 4 is rough, because all of the high efficiency Commission item (high commission for the amount of coin spent to craft) are below level 60. When you hit Rank 3 the Commission window filters out the items below 60, so you need a whole different set of items to craft.

Yes, I wasn’t going to mention that as they have a history of Sledgehammer nerfing things into uselessness, even if they are merely convenient rather than broken. They seem to have lowered the South Seas trade value of Honey twice.

But as I have always hoarded stuff, I have thousands of various high value Leadership things, and a stack of 494 that they recently fixed to give what it says it gives gets me exactly enough Material Exchange Credits (MXC) from my Retainer to get 2223 of those, and that gets me 500,000 South Sea Credits (SSC).

So I could get Rank 3 on 30 Alts in a day, if I wanted. But I will keep a few at rank 2, because I want to track Begum’s Rank 2 lists for a week or two, as well as her Rank 3 lists. I’ll start 7 Alts off on a different craft, just to see what they get in the box.

For Rank 4, it seems either Gold Jewelry for 3000 SSC or maybe Alchemy Supplements/Reagents. I could get all Alts making these so my Main can get rank 4. But that takes a lot more time and a lot more effort. I mean, 1,667 Gold Rings!

Unless, of course, something comes up on the list that can be bought for a reasonable number of MXC and traded for a decent amount of SSC. I’m hoping something comes up that’s better than the direct exchange rate of 2 MXC : 1 SSC. I certainly won’t be paying 1 AD : 1SSC.

But ultimately, I’d really like to have all the Professions data in a database so I can check efficiency of recipes vs Artisan used and so on.

        🙂
