With the new refining system in Neverwinter’s Swords of Chult, the corresponding double events got some tweaks as well. We’ve already talked about why the double refining event has been scratched, but as it turns out the double enchant and runestones one has also received an update. Formerly the event would just double enchantments and runestones, but now it’s extended to all refining stones minus Marks of Potency. So it makes sense to go over the basics here and look if and how this should change the players’ approach.
What Is Getting Doubled Now?
First of all, let’s go over the stuff that is getting doubled now. Obviously all enchantments and runestones are still included, but now normal refining stones like Peridots and all Enchanting Stones (Superior Enchanting Stone) get doubled as well. This includes every gemstone that drops from utility enchants, boxes or content. You’ll get double Enchanting Stones from Dread Ring lairs and Tomb of the Nine Gods in example.
With this change, the amount of boxes you should save up for the event drastically increases. Here is a, probably incomplete, list:
- Warded Enchantment Pack and similar enchantment packs from lockboxes
- Lost Artifact Pack and similar artifact packs from lockboxes that drop refining stones
- Expedition Companion Pack and similar companions packs from lockboxes
- Resonant Bag and all other refining bags from the Leadership profession
- Enchanted Coffer and all other chests of good from the Leadership profession
- Refiner’s Cache from the CtA event vendor
- Elemental Air Sealed Container and similar elemental container
- Steward’s Incentive Package
- Spoils of War and all other Quartermaster drops
- Coffer of Celestial Enchantments ardent rewards
- Celestial Bag of Refining
- Heroic Encounter rewards
- Enchanting Stones from Dread Ring Lairs or Tomb of the Nine Gods
- Refining Stones in many dungeon chests
Quartermaster’s Still Work the Same
Unfortunately the new ranks of the Quartermaster’s Enchantment don’t mean that its bags drop higher enchantments now. Players already tested it and the thresholds and information we’ve posted here are still valid. So upgrading doesn’t make tons of sense because you still need at least three slots to get to 10.5%.
What Makes Sense Saving Up?
Obviously not everything makes sense saving up for the Double Refining Stones event. The Celestial Bags of Refining in example don’t even stack and net so little actual RP that it’s hardly worth it. If you have some laying around on alts however, it might be a good idea to open them during the x2. The same can probably be said about HEs, ardent coffers, Refiner’s Caches, the elemental containers and the Steward’s Incentive Package. I personally think the biggest inclusion is the stuff from Leadership. Since you’ll probably be running the tasks all day anyway, save up the boxes and open them during the event. They drop unbound stuff which can be sold for a nice profit.
Also check the artifact packs that drop from lockboxes. Some net refining or even enchanting stones, which are getting doubled as well. Farming Dread Ring with alts could also turn into a profitable thing to do for the same reason. Additionally pretty much all dungeon chests receive a nice little boost during the event days.
Overall this looks like a significant upgrade to the enchantment and runestone double event. The only downside is that you have to clear a few more inventory slots for the additional packs you want to save. But since the refining rework should have freed up a lot, this is probably no big deal.
