Jubilee Event Guide

The “Jubilee” is Neverwinter’s annual anniversary event, which takes place in late June on all platforms. It’s technically not a true “anniversary” for the console versions as the event celebrates the game’s original launch that happened on June 20th 2013 on PC. Over the years the event has received multiple tweaks and updated rewards. But one thing hasn’t changed: The Jubilee is stacked and rocking! So let’s go through all aspects in this guide and see what players can grab!

Different Currencies

Elminster Aumar

The various rewards from the event can all be looked up at Elminster Aumar in the Protector’s Enclave. There are three currencies, Neverwinter RenownProtector’s Figurines, and Anniversary Coins, with which you can buy the stuff. Each year new stuff is added to the store, with the latest addition being the Throne of Celebration. This means it’s becoming more difficult for new players to get everything at once, but it’s still manageable. There are unique transmute and mounts as well as cool emotes. For a list of full rewards just visit Elminster or look up the official news page.

Figurines

The best way to get currencies are Protector’s Bountys and the corresponding Gifts that drop from them. In case of the Figurines, it’s actually even the only one to get them. You always get one in the first Bounty you open each day, but for more players need to pray to RNGesus. That’s a bit annoying, especially since the drop rate is not too great. Since you want to safe Figurines where you can, note that you only need the Garden Key once, even if you want to get multiple toons up there. (Some say this was fixed a while ago. Still worth trying after the event.)

Renown

It’s another story for Renown, which drop left and right from Bountys, Gifts and the skirmish. You should easily be able to amass enough currency to grab everything you want. Even new players should have no trouble farming enough Renown to buy all the items they like.

Anniversary Coins

The Anniversary Coins (1st Year Coin) are a new gifting mechanic that was added to the event in 2018. Previously accounts could just claim selected free gifts on each day from the ZEN Market during the Jubilee, but the coins replaced that system. And that didn’t came at the expense of the players as the rewards crates you can get are major. By simply completing a daily quest “It’s Celebration” from Elminster you get Wards, Mounts, Companions, additional Protector’s Figurines, Genie’s Gifts, and much more. You can do that quest up to five times over the course of the event days and it’s definitely recommended to do so. For all rewards please look up the official news page. The coins and rewards are per account and not per character.

Follow the Merchant

Foreign MerchantNo matter what type of goods you’re after, the best way to farm Bountys is escorting the Foreign Merchants in the adventure zones. There is one in the Blacklake District, Ebon Downs and Whispering Caverns. Strongholds have one as well, but other than the normal ones players cannot start it at any time. You need the Protection Orders quest that drops from Bountys with a cooldown of several hours.

Escorting the merchant is easy and each time you protect it from danger it drops either Renown or a Bounty. Early in the event I got the impression that the lower level zones have a worse drop rate for Bountys. I’m not so sure about it any longer, but haven’t actually tested it. Even if, it could also be a matter of not being an appropriate level for the zone. Normally the Whispering Caverns has quite a crowd going at any time of the day.

Pull for more drops

The merchant spawns mobs every so often, but you can also pull ones into its aggro zone and create more loot that way. It has a small cooldown after a fight before it can be aggro’d again. Smart players and parties time the pulls and maximize the encounters.

The best route is the one in lower level Strongholds. It’s the longest one per merchant, has the most mobs on its way and the easiest pulls. I’d advise alliances and guilds to gather and complete their Protection Orders together. Just make sure to communicate who is activating the quest. Once accepted all open Protective Orders will auto-complete on approaching the merchant.

You get additional Bountys from the daily quests in the Enclave, but it’s not as efficient. You additionally do need to complete the skirmish, otherwise the quests won’t reset the next day.

/follow

I saw some folks using the /follow command on the merchant in the public zones. I guess some hardcore legits might scream exploit here, but in my eyes it’s acceptable. If everybody did it, then nobody would get loot because mobs wouldn’t be killed. So it’s more an issue of leeching and morale. Same goes for camping the arrival zone of the merchant, because you get one loot there without actually participating in the run.

Here’s the Good Stuff

Let’s talk drops: You aren’t getting too much great stuff from Gifts. The only actual epic reward is a purple XP Booster. Yay! The best things are the campaign currencies, because it’s progress. But it’s not like you would farm them over doing Tiamat in case you need Linu’s Favor to complete the Tyranny campaign for example. This makes gifting significantly worse than the one from the Winter or Summer Festivals and only a complementary mechanic. It can’t hurt to gather in your Strongholds and throw some gifts however.

It’s another story for the Bountys, which drop a nice range of RPs, Insignias, Wards, Stronghold Coffer vouchers, ZEN market vouchers (10% – 50%) and discounts for the Wondrous Bazaar, Guild Marks (also works with the Mysterious Merchant and temporary Masterwork buildings!), Trade Bars and Seals (5% – 25%). You can flip some ZEN Market vouchers and the Bazaar discount + VIP for profit (Coals or GMoPs), save up Guild Marks over the event to buy Explorer’s Charts or get some more salvage out of your Seals. Bountys also can drop Coalescent Wards, but at a laughable rate.

Discount and Voucher Drop Mechanic

Most players will be after Bazaar discounts for their resell value. Having a 20% or 25% discount + VIP means you can resell Mark of Potencys for a nice profit margin. The discounts and vouchers have a certain drop mechanic that you should know about. You can always only have one ZEN voucher and one discount at the same time in your inventory, but multiple ones in the overflow bag. So if you’re after specific discounts, the best way to do so is getting one ZEN voucher first to block further drops of those. Then fill up all your inventory slots and mass open the Bountys until the desired discount shows up in the overflow bag.

Don’t Panic

There are a few hints when reselling Mark of Potencys with the discounts. First of all, don’t panic! The market is just crazy during the Jubilee. You’ll get undercut a lot, but especially during off times (night US / early EU), the Auction House recovers and you might be able to sell your stuff at a higher price. Make sure to post some Marks at a higher price before going to bed and don’t get too crazy in the posting war. Again: Stuff might not sell instantly, but it will sell eventually.

Also Greater Marks work better than Superior or Ultimate ones because more people need them. What you also want to do is post different stack sizes. For Greater Marks for example, stacks of one, two, five or ten sell. Even if your auctions are not listed on the first page, they still sell because players scroll to the stack size they need. It’s not as important to actually be the cheapest seller. Especially single Marks can get you considerably better return of investment, but obviously come with more clicking work.

A Great Event

Overall the Jubilee ist a great event! It’s annoying that you will have to fight for enough Figurines for the rewards you like, but the opportunities for profit and progression are huge. The event grind is basically based on escorting the merchant all day any day. It’s boring over time, but it’s well worth it. Even for casuals that don’t have time to farm, one simply completion of “It’s Celebration” nets a flurry of useful rewards. The devs are certainly not kidding around with their annual anniversary celebration!

I managed to get one coalescent ward from first 100-130 bounties I opened. Other rewards were mostly vouchers which are not a bad thing and some preservation wards and some refining stones.

Only advice I would probably give to people is: “Please let the GF pull in mobs and yeah, dismiss your companions since they can sometimes attack mobs you don’t want to attack. ”

BTW what is this about /follow command, how can it be used?

The command “/follow” makes your character walk after the current target. When they move, you move. when they stop, you stop. Cancels when you hit basically any other key.

So you highlight the merchant and type “/follow”, then go afk. Your toon will follow the merchant around and collect stuff that drops nearby.

What can you get from sharing the Protector’s Hospitality (beer) in a party? It just says Protector’s Jubilee Gift. Also it has a counter on it (am at zero). So do the exchanges improve as you go? I’ve already gotten my Bounty count over 100 from following the merchant.

From the new Refinement Pack you get one off for free I dropped an account bound Ruthless Enchantment Rank 7.

There’s even a couple of them in the AH since yesterday – do they come unbound from the Refinement Pack or do they even drop out of Refiners Caches from the CtAs? Do you guys have any word on it? Is it supposed to be the new enchantment for the new dungeon? (Would fit, it has a little face on it and description sais that an unnatural cold emmanates from it.)

Two-stat enchantment with Crit + Recovery / Defense + Lifesteal / Gold + Glory gain (not sure about the utility one)

Thanks! We’ll have a different article on the new ZEN pack and price changes coming where we’ll also feature the Ruthless Enchant. Imho it’s not directly Jubilee related, right?

Ah okay, thanks for the heads up – yeah Jubilee relation is only because I got one from the free gift and as there’s no other source of info about the enchant atm I didn’t know whether it’s acutally got something to do with Jubilee event or the upcoming mod BUT if you are going to feature that one soon I am looking forward to that post 🙂

Does anyone know if the 25% off Wonderous Bazaar coupon exists this year? I’ve opened 700+ bounties and only seen a 20% off.

They definitely stop working eventually (the Bounty count resets and doesn’t increment any longer so you won#t be able to get the best vouchers / discounts). Iirc it’s not immediately after the event though, maybe after a week or so.

    Dammit!

“You can always only have one ZEN voucher and one discount at the same time in your inventory, but multiple ones in the overflow bag.”

Gawd, I wish I’d known that earlier today! I should have come here first!

I expected the server maintenance to be at 15:30 UK time, when the Jubilee Zen Discounts etc ended. But I got the 15 minute Message of Doom at 13:45! Why shut down 1.5 hours before the Event Sales end?

So I bought a bunch of Pres Wards from Zen Market and started mass Panic Opening of my 700+ Protector’s Bounty, got a voucher, but continued, hoping for a 25% WB coupon for the full 65% discount.

I stopped a few times to move stuff to Shared Bank, but could not move anything FROM Shared or Personal Bank and could not invoke due to my Overflow.

I ended up with 5,400 Renown in my Overflow, 47,000 in my currency tab, and NO Wondrous Bazaar AD Voucher at all!

But I did have a Seals of the Brave voucher, obtained from the first 50 Bounty crates.

And I don’t even have any Seals of the Brave!!

    DOH!!

But I do have a truck load of those useless Stronghold decorations that don’t even stack! I did get ONE Coal Ward, though.

Well, I know what to do next year…

I’m using a GF or SW next year, as my Alt Black Dragonborn DC is just too slow and hulking. And the others have more bags and bank space. But I thought the DC gear could be usable.

    DOH!!

What do I spend 52,000-odd Renown on? I already got the Shadow Dragon Throne. I suppose non-BoP consumables… I could give juggling emotes to every guild member in the Alliance!

Well, we learn by our mistakes… and I learned a LOT!

    🙂

    Great article, j0SHi.
